Americans love to fantasize about how we would resist tyranny because we love freedom, unlike those other countries where the people have simply suffered under the thumb of despotic rulers. We are not special, we are not exceptional. It can and is happening here.

Exactly! Alcatraz was a prison for those CONVICTED of crimes AFTER being afforded DUE PROCESS.

Auschwitz was an inhumane death camp for those the government deemed "undesirable" and wished to eliminate from society.

Which one does this more closely resemble?

I would like my state, every state, to mandate badges, name plates, no masks, for all law enforcement in the state. And if federal agents try to break the mandate, arrest them, then let the courts sort it out.

We're going to see quite a split screen today:
Millions protesting peacefully in defense of democracy, and a would-be dictator ordering tanks to tear up DC streets to make him feel powerful.
It's obvious what the right side is. Be on it.

#AltCitizen alert!

The high school student Anelise Feldman wrote a touching letter reminding Rep. Laurel Libby how not to be a bully.

I hope Anelise Feldman is filled with pride and knows how much this one letter means.

A high school student is more mature and professional than an elected rep.
this is a letter to the editor from a high school track runner who came in second to a trans girl in a race. her state house rep in maine started talking about it. so she wrote this: www.pressherald.com/2025/05/14/r...

democrats in congress are literally choosing to allow the country to slide into fascism rather than go on the record showing whether they support or oppose holding the country's highest politician accountable for his crimes
The answer to the question of which Representatives are willing to uphold their oath to support and defend the Constitution is a big fat zero. Not one, not today. bsky.app/profile/high...
It's 5pm ET - do you know how your rep is voting on H.Res 353, Impeaching Donald John Trump?

Follow along with me on the House livestream as we see which reps are willing to uphold their oath to support and defend the Constitution. www.youtube.com/USHouseClerk...

It’s past time to get rid of senior Democrats. If you’re not willing to fight for the country, get the fuck out of the way.

So here’s the deal, and I’m gonna use a One Piece analogy because I’m a jocknerd.

You don’t rise up and fight against Kaido and the World Government because you know you’re going to win.

You do it because it’s the right thing to do.
Dude, Dems can't impeach a turnip if GOP controls the House. (It does.)

I'm glad you are mad, but what were you expecting them to do?

And if the logic is that losing an impeachment vote is a strategic mistake, (1) history disproves this — both previous impeachments hurt Trump politically and (2) we have a moral duty to use the constitutional mechanism available to us to stop him. At a minimum it shines a light on GOP enabling him.

It's official.

I filed a Senate Resolution of Disapproval.

RFK is CLEARLY in violation of his constitutional oath. He must resign.

Friendly reminder to all GOP officials and voters:
The President of the United States is a temp job. As such, Executive Orders do not supercede the Constitution.
It's that simple.

If Congress valued the Constitution, it would impeach Trump for bribery.

The Constitution bans US officials—explicitly including POTUS—from accepting things of value from foreign govts. Ben Franklin famously gave up a gift from France as ambassador.

US institutions now see blatant bribery as ok.
The foreign emoluments clause was written to prevent exactly this. Blatantly unconstitutional

A lot of people don’t understand that a single member of the house can force a vote. If you’re wondering how this works, read up on it here. It is simply NOT true that Johnson can block it. He can change the rules, but that would have to be voted on as well, which might as well just be a vote.
Wondering what all this talk about Rule IX is about? 🤔

...you're not alone! The House has confusing rules.

Rule IX of the House of Representatives allows any individual member to force a vote on impeachment, even without approval from House leadership.
