I am so goddamn tired of conservatives destroying things that belong to the public. This department doesn't belong to Sim, it's not his, he has no moral right to do this. This is social vandalism.

He just sucks so much. And he's not even a fun mayor who sucks, he's just boring and mid and awful.

The appointment isn't for 16 hours. I basically turned it in early.
Guess who forgot to fill out her ADHD paperwork.

If you feel overwhelmed, remember that you can still make a difference doing little things. A compliment or word of encouragement, a tip to a favorite takeout place, a donation to a local charity, an email to your favorite author, time with a pet, a walk outside, or a phone call to a loved one.

Hear hear! My coworkers and I did a shift at our local food bank today. We processed 4 tons of food that will go to Oregonians all across the state, made some new friends, and really enjoyed the camaraderie of working with a team on a shared goal (racing to finish packing a pallet of apples!).

Authors, Beware! There's a firm called "ClaimsHero" doing aggressive social media outreach claiming to
"help" you file to get $ in the Anthropic class action. In fact, it's a bait-and-switch, they are luring authors to sign up with them, then OPTING THEM OUT of the class action so they'll get zilch.

You can always tell when folks who didn't grow up in nature are getting into a mystical nature kick because they talk about forests like they're these serene, perfect, peaceful places. No friend, nature is scary and tense as fuck and you're looking at a place where things live and die BY THE MINUTE.

One result of AI ruining everything is a knee-jerk 'get computers out of classrooms' which really sucks for some disabled kids who have really benefited from access to tech. This is a really frustrating game of whack-a-mole.

A Chrome browser tool features a movable bubble that provides information without typing a prompt, spurring a rise in AI cheating on tests.

Which says so much about how racists center themselves. I'm not interested in shaming you; I just want you to stop oppressing people. If talking about race makes you feel ashamed, that's on you.
The whole point is to make it seem as if any talk of race/gender is designed to shame white people

UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

I don’t have a whole lot of advice for people younger than me but the earlier in life you stop worrying about what other people will think and just wholeheartedly enjoy the stuff you like the happier you’ll be
One thing people kind of tell you, but not really, about middle age:

One day you'll be like "oh [thing] looks fun but people will think I'm a loser" about a thing

And then you'll say. Wait a second.

Fuck 'em

On the other hand, given all this: I think we have a good case for “how bad can uncontrolled weed get?” and…not that bad!
