We got a LOT of snow. It’s above the dog’s head, so I tried to go out with snowshoes and forge a path for her.

I got about ten feet away from the back door at which point one of the snowshoes fell off and got buried, and the pole broke in half 🥴

Looking forward to watching the #ALAYMA this morning and cheering for my colleagues! And like always - I'm sharing my poem "What Happened to Your Book Today." A reminder of why we make books for young readers. ❤️https://katemessner.com/what-happened-to-your-book-today-a-poem-for-after-the-ala-awards/

People already working hard to prove how perfect Alex Pretti was. To show he didn't "deserve" to be killed. But it's a trap folks. You're only feeding into a dynamic where people who are considered lesser get no protection. You don't have to be an Alex Pretti to deserve to live.

We are getting a really bad storm tomorrow, apparently, and there is a travel ban in my county tomorrow and Monday. We already have snacks and things but I’m starting to get paranoid we don’t have enough! On a scale of 1 to WTF, how dumb would it be to go to the store for more supplies today?

I feel kinda the same about Gavin Newsom as I feel about AI. While it may be useful in some limited applications, it’s mostly overrated and despicable, and corporations have way over-invested in it so they have to act like it’s amazing and shove it at us though we’d be better off without it. BOO.

Democrats need to stop texting me to beg for money and start DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS UTTER LUNACY. I’m not giving one thin dime to another goddam politician until this *gestures at all of it* is SORTED. And Gavin Newsom, it’s never gonna be YOU. 💅 LOSE MY NUMBER, FUCKO.

Ask the Agent Q of the Day - Do picture books need to have conflict?

A: Yeah, but it may not look how you think "conflict" looks.

(I saw GOODNIGHT MOON used online as an example of a PB with no conflict, but I strongly disagree! Look at the illustrations! Sheesh!)

I had a bunch of Hilton points and figured I better use them all up so I can officially NEVER STAY IN ANOTHER F*%KING HILTON AGAIN and let them lose some money on me while I go. However, my plans got derailed due to snow. Too late to cancel, so whatever. Points are gone anyway, so I'm free. HOWEVER.

Attn AI spammers with fake book clubs/marketing advice:

I get a lot of these emails, and I have to say, I'm disappointed. Stop with the AI bullshit. Use your brain and creativity! Look into your heart and decide, do you want to just be some AI drivel-spewing scammer, or a true Scam ARTIST?

Update After Dog Washing: the dog was terrified but she didn’t bite me and she got washed. Also I got washed, and every surface of the bathroom got washed, and the couch got washed.
January 15, 2026 at 9:43 PM
The dog needs to be groomed because she’s part poodle and her hair gets matted if it is too long. However, she’s scared of the hair dryer at the dog salon and NIPPED the lady last time. So the only way they will cut her hair is if I wash and dry it at home first. I’m going in — wish me luck 😭😭😭

my hot take is that I don't think it's this website specifically that's toxic. the Circumstances are toxic and nobody really knows what to do about it so they come online and scream. and if I may offer an alternative: actually going outside and screaming feels better.
