Oh — uh this was not a pdf it was just a jpg picture of a pdf and I was on my phone without the original — but good to know in future!

I have zero reason to make that up. :-) Source is in an attached post.

(And yes, it probably IS at least unethical for me to share a pic of a pdf of a paywalled article in the same way that it’s illegal/unethical for Anthropic to have pirated all those books in the first place, the irony is not lost on me, and yet I do appreciate that people asked for the source!)

Somebody asked for a source for my allegation that ClaimsHero is deceptively luring authors on social media. Source 1: MY EYEBALLS, I’ve seen the ads. Source 2, an article from Law360, needs a login. I took a picture of a PDF and I’m sorry in advance but I simply cannot type all this into alt-text.

There is a Law360 article — you need a login. There is an AALA bulletin — you need to subscribe to their updates, I have no idea how to access it otherwise. I’m happy to send anyone the info I have! I just don’t know how to post / link in this context.

(If you get an ad from ClaimsHero, ignore it -- or better yet, report it for fraud - I got one yesterday on insta! It really is ALARMINGLY deceptive, I can completely see that an author who is busy and feeling overwhelmed might click on it thinking they will get $$ with less hassle. DON'T DO IT!)
