Sunday, at least 7 ICE agents stormed a house and took an elderly man out into the freezing cold, wearing only his underwear and a blanket.
He was a member of the Hmong community, which came to the area from Laos in the 1970s after siding with the US in the Vietnam War.

The basic issue is that there are people whose whole “thing” is going to protests, and then there are people who go to protests because something happened they want to protest, and the latter group is 100x more important and should be catered to, but protests are invariably led by the former
This is absolutely a huge problem in protest culture and it’s a major obstacle to allowing protests to grow. People are turning up to protests to fight Trump, ICE, recent abuses. Invariably the speakers are going off about 200 years of stolen land or US imperialism, and many of those people leave.
I really agree with this—my stance is not “don’t bring in other issues” but “for the love of god, do NOT bring in other issues in a ham-fisted way that doesn’t illuminate the connection for someone who didn’t already agree”
