Came home to a brown line drawn through the house. Followed it with disinfectant & cloths til it ended, ominously, by my bed. Changed the linens and cleaned the other rooms but still didn't find cat poop. Does this count as a cozy mystery
Reached Part 3 in A Brief History of Seven Killings, ran my (trail) 5km record, added a few pages to the novel, made a friend a knife bookmark

Productive week!

We put a photo of Bula on her cat tree so that people who knew her from the sidewalk would know she's gone. But now the picture frame has become the thing that most frequently catches the corner of my vision when I'm unprepared and briefly makes me think she's there, kicking off realization again.

How should I bring pizza to a potluck? Loose foil? With paper towels to reduce sogginess?

Google AI: You should bring it ice cold on a slab of ice filled with marbles

This keeps on getting worse and worse. I am not renewing my print subscriptions to F&SF and Asimov's.

(F&SF seems to still be on hiatus, the last issue I got was 1.5 years ago? Summer 2024? So crushing, I really liked it, Sheree's a truly great editor)
On August 12, 1971, 16-year-old me mailed the first story I ever wrote off on its first submission to my dream market, F&SF. My tale was quickly rejected. On July 17th, 2025, I finally sold a story to that magazine. Here's why I felt I had to withdraw that story. www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/20...

I always thought if I ever owned a house I’d make us “the book house” each Halloween.

Getting all the chapter books, MG reads, and YA (we had a lot of teens last year, and yes, teenagers are kids don’t be jerks to them on Halloween) sorted for tomorrow!

250 giveaway books! But also candy.

The roulette issue of @ettereview.bsky.social is out! I'm in love with ette's design for this issue and Beth's illustration for "Landlines." Huge thanks to Nora and Beth for including my work.

Can’t believe this is out there now, but so it goes.

Look, do I regret the tattoo? Sure. Especially the spelling errors (lol.)

Do I agree with it anymore? Absolutely not

In fact I’m getting it covered up with some ink blot work this week

Researching Malcolm Lowry in Oaxaca & discovered this gem from the 1991 Washington Post:

“Some of Lowry’s poems from Mexico give one a sense of what sort of trip he was having:
“In the Oaxaca Jail;” “Delirium in Veracruz”; “Thirty-Five Mezcals in Cuautla;” “Eye-Opener” & “Sestina in a Cantina”
