Oh no.
PLEASE reach out to old author friends who dropped out of the business 5-10 years ago. 20 years ago. Make sure they know about this settlement & the money they’re owed. A rising tide lifts us all!
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action

“Approximately 850 officers and agents were surged across the city. They made a total of 23 arrests," Press Sec. Leavitt told reporters. For reference, the D.C. police average is 58.7 each day.

Almost no one has been arrested because D.C. isn’t actually crime-ridden.

I hope your community is never occupied like LA or DC. But if it is, you’ll quickly find that people don’t take kindly to having their city under federal control. And folks are just getting started.

South Dakota has 15 independent bookstores and 2 B&N. 10 years ago they were close to 30. Outside of Rapid City and Sioux Falls you would be hard pressed to find a place where you can bring an author or organise a book club of any kind for any genre, but by all means run down the people who read.
The Phelans ran the only bookstore in Vermillion, South Dakota.

But after the state passed a measure preventing transgender young people like their daughter from using girls’ bathrooms, they sold it and moved away.
A family opened a town’s first bookstore. A bathroom bill is driving them away.
The Phelans ran the only bookstore in Vermillion, South Dakota. They sold it and moved after a new law would’ve required their daughter to use a boy’s bathroom.

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

Blue Monday book recommendations, romcom edition, for a little light and fluffy escape:
These are low angst, pure escapism, fun and flirty and impossibly charming. Both authors are easy to read with bantery wit and well written prose.

Another excellent read, that you can count as holiday, but it's so much more 🔖
The Darkest Night is randomly down to 99p on Kindle. I have no idea how long for, so grab it while you can! It opens with Ailsa driving home for Christmas only to find her grandfather has been attacked and her grandmother, Moira, is missing.
