Breaking news: censorship isn't just for banned books anymore. My musical Between the Lines was cancelled due to the comments of a single parent.

Here we go again. MULTIPLE titles of mine removed.
We received (via PRR) the list of books removed from Union County Public Schools during the 24/25 SY.

The district reported NO OBJECTIONS for the year, but 508 titles were removed (for a total of 719 books).

These removals were not reported to the state.

At the 2025 #PENGala, we took the opportunity to pose that question to Rita Dove and @jodipicoult.bsky.social.

They also banned my books. What Malinda said is spot on.
Menomonee Falls, WI, has a history of banning books. (They banned one of mine back in 2023.) This is just the next step. They won't need to ban books if there is no public library. Pay attention, people. The book bans have been the canary in the coal mine for years.
Menomonee Falls, rated among the top ten safest communities in Wisconsin, is planning on reallocating $300,000 from its library to its police department.

Because Menomonee Falls is just that rampant with crime, right? Who needs a library?
