The unraveling of USAID was deliberate. Paul Martin sounded an alarm about nearly half a billion dollars in food aid, and he lost his post for it. That choice weakened the country’s own safeguards and its standing overseas. A government committed to democratic practice protects its overseers.
Democracy Works: The dismantling of USAID and the death of government oversight
Former NASA and USAID Inspector General Paul Martin joins us to recount the chaotic end to his decades-long career in public service and discuss the role that oversight plays in American democracy.

USAID’s collapse didn’t just cut programs. It cut lifelines. Malawi’s LGBTIQ+ communities were left exposed to stigma, disease, and silence.
Malawi’s LGBTIQs Intervention Reels under USAID Shutdown | FairPlanet
A sweeping withdrawal of US aid has unravelled Malawi’s Key Populations health network, pushing already marginalised communities into deeper precarity.

Thou shalt replace Chuck Schumer with Chris Van Hollen, who personally went to El Salvador to find Kilmar. That’s the kind of courage we need right now.

We need names. This hiding your evil vote to trick people into voting for you shit is not ok.
Yup. I said this earlier today, but it was only a guess. Thanks for confirming it. It is no coincidence that of the 8 who came forward to do this, none of them are running in 2026. But they ran cover for some who are.

If you want to know why we can’t give Trump a blank check, look what he did to USAID — illegally dismantling an agency that saved millions of lives and literally burning food meant for starving people.

As I told former USAID staff this week: their work was the best of America.

I know it’s too much to expect them to know their history, but if the American Revolution had a motto, it definitely would not have been “immigrants go home.”

It would have been “get your fucking soldiers out of our cities.”
America... boy, I dunno.

As an alum, I fully endorse the Senator’s condemnation of UVA. They had to run Jim Ryan out of town so they could pull off this capitulation.
We need to call out those who cave to Trump's bullying, and that is exactly what UVA is doing here.

It's not just wrong — it's counterproductive, feeds the beast, and just encourages more mafia-like blackmail from this lawless administration.
University of Virginia reaches deal to pause Trump administration probes
The agreement includes no monetary penalty and no external monitoring, U-Va. officials said. The Justice Department says the school must prohibit DEI to close the federal probes.

Our authoritarianism is run on clichés borrowed from the Eastern Europe of twenty years ago. Paid protestors, disloyal cities, evil Soros, vast conspiracies — it was all tiresome then and there, and now it’s pathetic.
Trump: "They're, like, insurrectionists, they're terrible people. But you really wonder why. Why are they doing it? What are they gaining? Other than they're obviously paid. They're paid a lot of money."

It seems clear—I think to everyone, now—that a false and illegal invocation of the Insurrection Act is coming before the end of the year. Media outlets should be telling us how they will prepare for this potential Treason. State governments should be telling us. Activists should be developing plans.

Three responses I'm hearing a lot of here:
1. "Aha! Any excuse to hide the bad numbers!"
2. "The numbers were cooked anyway so who cares?"
3. "Fine, we'll just rely on private data."
Let's address all three in a 🧵:
Friday's jobs report will provide key evidence on whether slower hiring is turning into deeper weakness in the labor market.
If there is a jobs report on Friday at all.

The fundamental freedoms of belief, thought, and speech are no longer recognized in America. This is what the maggots want and what the “he’ll lower prices” assholes enabled.

We are fast becoming a banana republic, with two standards of justice. If you oppose the leader, you go to jail just for speech. If you're a loyalist, you get immunity for your crimes.

That's what happens in Iran - not the United States. This is a decision moment for America.

Covid is gonna shape American politics for years and years because it was the first time most Americans were asked to make sacrifices and they lost their minds because of it.
That's kinda the vibe of so many folks I grew up near (South Texas) of the older generations.

They legitimately were changed by the COVID chaos. They went from being like, generous Christians to being locked inside their giant homes screeching about Fauci.
