Fan of energy systems and clean energy. "Big infrastructure" leftist. They/them.
I regret to inform you that the militant use of the term predates the Internet.
I like the irl usage of “queer” as an umbrella term that welcomes gays, lesbians, trans people, and others

I don’t like this online version where it’s a militant term

I was reminded that last night's vote was not on the CR, it was a vote for cloture.

There is plenty of time between now and a final vote for us to make all of these people understand exactly how badly they've fucked up.

It pains me to see adaptation used to undermine mitigation, but also to see it painted as a "false solution."

Adaptation is harm reduction for climate impacts that can no longer be avoided. Climate justice demands it. AND it has limits, becoming less effective and more costly as warming proceeds.

IT DOES NOT MATTER IF YOUR MEDICAL EMERGENCY IS DUE TO DRUG ADDICTION. IT'S A MEDICAL EMERGENCY YOU FUCKING GHOULS.

This is part and parcel of what's keeping us from having universal health care: they really believe that some ppl deserve medical care and some don't.
A lawsuit alleges a Black postal worker died after officers ignored clear signs he was suffering from a massive stroke, believing his medical emergency was drugs

The suit says guards left him helpless on a jail cell floor in his own urine for hours

This might be the most cynical ploy I've seen from RFK Jr.

There are people who are, actually, genuinely, injured by a vaccine (e.g. they get Guillain-Barré Syndrome), this would deplete the vaccine injury compensation fund so there wouldn't be any money for those people.

ok I decided to actually read up a bit on the Epstein case and my initial takeaway is that a great way to protect women and children from sexual predation would be to prosecute white collar crime

He's almost certainly talking about Camphill communities and similar programs. I hate that my knowledge of weird niches among crunchy "holistic" reactionary movements is relevant to the current moment. waldorfcritics.org/category/cam...
Even the most disturbing RFK Jr. headline always manages to have a detail inside creepier than you could have imagined. I’m sorry, did you just say Black kids should have a chance to get “re-parented”???? Gift link wapo.st/4hW2xGI

American tech companies should be worried about Chinese tech companies, but not for the reasons they’re currently worried.

They should be worried because now they’re competing against organizations decades ahead of them in figuring out how to navigate a bribery-based regulatory system.

okay we’re playing a game I just invented called Alt Text Champion

pick your personal favorite of the 209 (!!!!!!) photos of this borderline indescribable house, post it below with alt text, and the winner will be whoever best manages to capture it and bring the visual chaos to life for readers
This is the most insane house I've ever seen, like Randyland and the Winchester mansion had a baby. At no point did I know what was coming in the next picture, nor could I guess the next line in the description. www.zillow.com/homedetails/...

If you’re having vigorous discourse around burritos and food prep, please note that this is the guy whose screenshotted tweet is at the heart of it.

These are stressful times, but don’t treat a provocation from a literal fascist as if it’s a misguided but good-faith argument. He’s baiting you.

If you tell people the truth, i.e. "RFK Jr would stop government-backed research into treatments and cures for devastating diseases," they don't approve!

Can't imagine seeing this data and thinking the thing to do is construct some fantasy-land in which RFK Jr. is open to "compromising" on vaccines
I think fighting the nomination of the anti-public-health crank, who has a long + bizarre record of dipshittery & who has pledged to STOP ALL INFECTIOUS DISEASE RESEARCH IF CONFIRMED by telling the American people about him, is a superior strategy to capitulating before the fight really kicks off.

mimeow1012.bsky.social appears to be on your terf/GC list and probably shouldn't be. They use they pronouns and have friendly interactions with trans bsky users, I think the hearts are intended to be the genderqueer flag colors.

@gorskon.bsky.social this may be of interest to you if you hadn't heard it already.
I'm glad people are starting to talk about the precedents Skrmetti could set.

Here's one: I talked w a law professor who submitted an amicus brief, James Blumstein, and asked if, under his theory of the law, the constitution permits states to ban parents from vaccinating their kids.

He said yes.

Very Smart Reporters are going to act like US v. Skrmetti only implicates gender-affirming care for trans kids. In fact, it could allow sex discrimination in many other kinds of medical care. Yes, like birth control. Me in @tnr.bsky.social on how our rights are intertwined:

4. Please don't abandon the request to help cure ballots.

I know it might feel like a "what's the point" moment right now, but your efforts will also help House races.

As I said earlier, we still have pathways to winning the House. It's going to be 2016 again, but it's still important.
