Fan of energy systems and clean energy. "Big infrastructure" leftist. They/them.
That's not a fun fact, it reminds me of how profoundly disproportionate the US Senate is.

The Christian Not-Health-Insurance programs are so grim.

I am fairly sure at least 80% of the general public thinks all drones are smaller than a bike.
November 21, 2025 at 5:10 AM
I have no idea, sorry.

Oh, I love the lobster-camel!

Depends on the job. For example, there were so many male academics whose research and writing was organized by and substantially contributed to by their wives.

Or a wife, or for the wife, a housemaid or housekeeper.

I didn't get a diagnosis or medication until well after college, I genuinely think my asthma and aversion to unpleasant odors is why I didn't start smoking in high school.

I have heard of people having that sort of experience with cocaine in the eighties.

We're doing Abundance (*jazz hand*s) now, no more permits needed!

What a thing to say, from a man who's appearing on the news with an unbuttoned shirt like he's in the middle of stripping down to go to bed.

Also money.

He's always seemed kind of off to me, but he didn't used to be this disconnected from reality, right?

I've had fantastic trans healthcare, many trans people I know from the same area of the US as me would say the same, but it's far from a given even here. Riittakarttu Kaltiala seems overtly terfy to me.

Thanks! I get the impression that most people find the gum and patches unsatisfactory.
November 20, 2025 at 3:31 PM
How do they compare to nicotine patches or nicotine gum?
November 20, 2025 at 3:21 PM
Oof. I'm glad you found something that works for you. It's likely that the amphetamines are less hazardous than caffeine and nicotine at the doses that produce similar effects in most people, but if they don't work for you then that's besides the point.

Given how bad smoking is for you, you could probably justify prescribing stimulants to children with ADHD on that basis alone.
November 20, 2025 at 2:04 PM
Children with ADHD who are on medications for ADHD are also much less likely to go on to start smoking! I'm not sure how much of that is specific to nicotine though, since they're also less likely to go on to drink heavily or use various other non-stimulant drugs.

Not any more than any other organism that breathes oxygen and exhales CO2. The digestive systems of cows (and other ruminants) produce methane, which is a much stronger greenhouse gas in the short term than CO2. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_...
November 20, 2025 at 1:57 PM
They still emit some methane (looks like ~80% reduction), but I guess you could call them Ultra-Low Emissions Oxen!

Some churches do confirmation of infants, immediately after baptism! I know the Coptic Orthodox Church does.
November 20, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Exactly. I assumed you didn't know because it sounded like you thought abusive & transphobic treatment of trans people by medical professionals was new to the Nordic countries.
November 20, 2025 at 1:32 PM
I am genuinely convinced that one of the reasons it used to be thought that most people grew out of ADHD as adults was how common smoking was.
