Wow! Editors Canada is making a new Canadian dictionary based on the Nelson Gage Canadian Paperback Dictionary.

I worked on the Nelson Canadian Dictionary as a student. We didn’t know which name for the $2 coin would win out, and the entry on Nunavut was in the future tense. It’s been a while, eh?
Exciting news about a new Canadian English Dictionary in progress!

it is extremely hard to get it up to write fiction when the entire world is just the emotional equivalent of a pulled fire alarm shrieking in the hallway outside your door at all times and the landlords are like "oh yeah just ignore it, it's fine"
anyone else feel sick to their stomach about everything now. like literally everything

ever since learning that the national bird of 🍉, the p❤️lestine sunbird survived a name change attempt… & that occupiers drove a subspecies of crocodile endemic to the region to extinction… I couldn’t get this image out of my head. a ceasefire is the bare minimum. but let’s start there.

- there are “reasonable concerns” about trans people
- “the trans debate” is “complicated”
- that trans people should have their rights limited in any way.

None of this is negotiable. “Yes but” me and I’ll block.
