Wheelchair dancer, feminist, exhausted. Love books, musical theatre.

I knit, garden, read, roll my eyes at politicians, yell at ableists, avoid cold weather, back up people making the world better, etc. Trans rights are human rights. Ban cauliflower.

This is a wonderful, original take on The Little Mermaid that I feel so lucky to be dancing in.

Please consider donating to this project and sharing this post, we need more disability stories in all of the arts, but ESPECIALLY in dance.

And an understanding of the meaning and importance of disability community and disabilty pride. My parents and family were my first ableist encounters as a disabled child.
Many disabled kids would benefit so much if parenting classes that focus on disability inclusion and the harms of ableism were widely available (so, free) to their parents.

I'm not going to share the book, but I just read the worst description of the skin colour of a Black person I've ever seen.

As a public service, I'm just going to say that Black skin can range from the palest yellow, through red, through a multitude of brown shades, all the way to really dark blue.

It stops sorting your inbox into folders, btw, when you turn this off. As the inbox folders predate Gemini, this is a passive-aggressive attempt to make gmail a miserable experience unless you turn AI on, not a necessity.

Really, *really* inconvenient but makes me more determined to keep it off.
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

On this Trans Day of Remembrance ... consider mutual aid to trans, nonbinary, genderfluid, genderqueer (and however else they identify!) people in your lives. We are struggling.
If anyone can help ... with the car broken down, I have to cancel care, Alan can't get jobs, and food costs go up cause of delivery Transit is barely a thing here & I am disabled+state stripped trans/nonbinary rights so I am denied access 2x over.

A lot of you tell victims their stories are too much, that you can't bear to read them, that we should not even tell them. I was told recently I should turn my life into fiction to make it easier to read.

Yet you search for salacious details in the Epstein files.

All shares of this much-appreciated. Sorry if it's boring. Just another instance of me attempting to rehabilitate one of my books after my ex-publisher Unbound failed to pay me a large chunk of earnings from it, went into administration and took it temporarily out of print.
I'm giving away two signed copies of my (recently republished) book 21st-Century Yokel, with two postcards of this fab otters linocut by my mum, Jo.

By the way, it's November 19th, so that means it's International Men's Day. Yes, of course we get one too. Let's use it to do our best to be better men, to do better by the other men in our lives, and to bring up young men to be better than we've been. How are you doing, fellow menfolk?

I have a lifetime to think about what a world without Alice in embodied form looks like. To have loved and been loved by her was one of the greatest privileges of my life. I will carry her spirit with me always.
Many thoughts about my cyborg bitch boss goddess accomplice Alice Wong & all the things she meant but there is a tendency for white disabled people to overshadow conversations about disabled BIPOC including in death. I choose to let Alice speak for herself & uplift those she wanted to represent her.

Alice Wong taught us that disabled people don’t just leave memories behind—they leave infrastructure. Lineages of care. Methods of collectivity, survival. She named the connective tissue that holds our communities together, even across death, even across the losses that come too fast and too often.

It’s ok to take breaks. It’s ok to cry. It’s ok to rage.

Whatever you’re feeling is valid.

I like to remind myself what Gisele Pelicot said… “shame must change sides”

We’re going to make the abusers feel shame now.
