Totally cool and normal that there's a conceited effort to keep trans people off any kind of visible employment, through politically loaded culture war complaints. Definitely something we shouldn't worry about.

Any trans person who persists working in education is unbelievably brave.

Before recording this I oversalted my chicken's brine, so I spent the whole episode feeling like I got shot in the kidneys because of all the salt I ingested.

I don't think this concept is understood - or talked about - nearly enough. Many disabled people spend very little time in our comfort zone, where things are easy. There are so many extra challenges to doing things, interacting, etc that if we are up and about, we are probably pushing ourselves. 1/3

I got fired for this, view the secret knowledge of the iChatBio agentic chatbot sucking eggs at its only job while you still can:
it took one (1) question for the amazing new agentic LLM iChatBio to start fabricating data out of nothing. I asked for a list of clam shrimp in Florida, and it skipped a whole genus. when I told it that it was missing one, it confidently replied that Cyzicus also lives in Florida (it doesn't).

Harvard IS really great at resisting

"Cellini & his researchers have identified more than 900 people that had been enslaved by university affiliates...& nearly 500 of their direct living descendants.

It wasn’t long after the work began to pick up steam that Cellini started running into trouble."
Harvard hired a researcher to uncover its ties to slavery. He says the results cost him his job: ‘We found too many slaves’
When the extent of the university’s involvement with slavery was unearthed, a scholar tracking descendants of enslaved workers was suddenly fired

You really just gotta imagine that all women are fully autonomous human beings capable of making decisions for themselves in the bedroom, even if their specific choices don’t turn you on. Give that a try.

Growing up with a speech impediment and getting called the R word while simultaneously being placed in the gifted program, I realized at about seven years old that people think being able to communicate in a very specific way is the same thing as being "intelligent" and "right."
This is the thing I’ve been trying to explain to people. Just people AGI is return right answers doesn’t mean it’s reasoning.

The biggest flaw in how we think about intelligence is rooted in how we’re taught (literally in schools) to value answers over showing the work (reasoning) behind it.

There’s an Urdu name for a “Jack of all trades” that translates to “every talent Lord.” A Korean version is “eight direction beauty.” But my favourite name for someone who tries their hand at lots of different things is the Lithuanian Barbė devyndarbė. It means “Barbie nine jobs”

A key to understanding Reacher is that he's invented by a British guy. The things some people are perceiving as right-wing coded (guns, vigilantism) are things the author perceives, correctly, as American-coded.
Reacher has gotta be the funniest show in existence.

Entire show about a big guy that extrajudicially murders dozens of people in between scenes where he turns to the camera and says “I am a liberal and in this house we believe in WOMEN’S RIGHTS”
