This is definitely beyond me! There's no definiton that's not a reference to another niche weapon other than "spear thrower" which is very unhelpful. "Spear sling" seems to communicate the concept well in my head, but there's no real basis for that term. Accuracy or clarity seems to be the choice!

As far as I know, there's no singular term other than a "Spear Thrower" - I'd immediately think of it as an Atlatl or Woomera, but the closest thing geographically afaik would be the Greek Amentum. I'd probably call it the spear's sling or something, as it's more immediately understandable.
