The blue LED, one of the most difficult and important inventions ever – which allowed the white LED – is some of the craziest Chad shit I have ever heard about anything. This guy is pinnacle determination holy crap.

Why It Was Almost Impossible to Make the Blue LED
The blue LED was supposed to be impossible—until a young engineer proposed a moonshot idea. Technology is not a thing that exists as a force outside of the creation of the minds and hands which make it. Any human made thing can be stopped and changed by humans.

Yes, it actually can.

To give in otherwise is to abdicate responsibility and meaning, and that's cowardly fatalism, not reality.

You know why Finland housed their homeless?
Because it's cheaper - saving Finland about $14K per person per year in crime, addiction, mental health, and emergency housing services.
In Canada/UK/US, we mostly rely on raising police budgets instead & still watch those problems rising exponentially.
Finland’s successful approach to ending homelessness catches eye of Quebec City | Globalnews.ca
Quebec City Mayor Bruno Marchand has suggested that the solution to the crisis may be a Finnish model, which is a 'housing first' approach that aims to give everyone a home.

Chicago University's 'Nightshade 1.0' Learning Algorithm 'poison' filter is now live for public use:

Unlike 'Glaze', which only makes your art irreplicable, Nightshade actively damages any learning database it gets added to.

I am still gob-smacked at the news that the university was paying for private planes to take the WVU president to Charleston and other locations within driving distance and that the costs of these flights per anum was greater than the annual budgets of some of the programs he cut...it's galling

We’re about to learn an important lesson about who runs the university, and it ain’t faculty or students
Ross Stevens, a wealthy donor to the University of Pennsylvania, is withdrawing a gift worth around $100 million in protest of the school's response to antisemitism on campus.
