This is a textbook example (condensates are only just reaching textbooks!) of why condensates matter, and how they tend to work. Here these liquid-like blobs create a microenvironment in the nucleus of cancer cells within which chromatin sustains a conformation accessible to transcription...

To fertilize, sperm must locate and recognize an egg. How? The structure of each sperm cell encodes a latent representation of this task. We use fertilization as a simple model process to study the nature of latent encoding. #ComplexSystems #ReproRocks

Oarfish 0.6.5 is out github.com/COMBINE-lab/...! V0.6.4 added optional output of (optionally compressed) per-read assignment probabilities. V0.6.5 cleans up that output a bit, bumps to the newest minimap2-rs crate (thanks @josephguhlin.bsky.social) & now accepts uBAM as input in raw read mode!

Consistently a number of events that were believed to be through DNA damage are through ribosome signaling triggered by damaged RNA. An amazing new area

Self-assembly and condensation of intermolecular poly(UG) RNA quadruplexes
Abstract. Poly(UG) or ‘pUG’ dinucleotide repeats are highly abundant sequences in eukaryotic RNAs. In Caenorhabditis elegans, pUGs are added to RNA 3′ ends
