Yeah, I think it comes down to how realistic it was to think Republicans would give in on ACA subsidies.
If they’re crazy and would rather watch the world burn, the second option here might be the best approach. Republicans are still on the hook for the exploding premiums.

Seriously, for their own good, Dems who voted for this need to not be saying “we did a good thing, this is why.”
The line needs to be “we fought like hell to get healthcare back, but Donald Trump was willing to burn the country to the ground.”

Access to the sacraments is the tip of the iceberg. They won't allow clergy access bc they aren't running a proper detention facility. The scandal that religious protests are highlighting is not that the detainees' religious rights are being violated, but that ALL their rights are being violated.

Imagining someone who’s saved up the entire run of Dancing with the Stars on DVR to watch later, now bereft.
For background Disney is fighting with Google over programming costs resulting in a broad blackout of Disney/ABC affiliate/ESPN content on YouTube TV
Which even includes YouTube TV deleting DVR recordings of ABC owned content stored in the cloud.
All very innovative stuff:

the problem is it’s too easy to visualize being that cop, standing there, receiving a sandwich, and you realize you’d never go psycho enough to chase the guy a whole block and then waste hours of your life testifying in court about it. it’s insane. you’d just check to see if the sandwich is okay.

This is like how someone on Trump’s staff accidentally stopped the escalator at the United Nations back in September.
They said she showed up late and in a different color car than they were told to expect. But regardless, that still doesn’t excuse her ranting and raving profanities at them throughout the airport. TSA said she was also ranting at them. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Mace blames cops for her airport meltdown: "In the political environment we have today, there's no room for error when it comes to security... yes, I did confront those who did not show up to do the job. My safety was put at risk... mediocrity when it comes to airport security will not be tolerated"

Why does Kavanaugh hate the troops?
Brett Kavanaugh's behavior during today's second oral arguments has been incredibly obnoxious and rude. He is so eager to kill a service member's lawsuit against a negligent government contractor that he keeps interrupting other justices, raising his voice, and getting emotional. Weird and erratic.

Side note: Threats of military action notwithstanding, worth noting that any Christians fleeing religious persecution in Nigeria could not, at present, enter the U.S. as refugees, as the U.S. refugee program has been almost entirely frozen by Trump for months — save for Afrikaners from South Africa.

I'm imagining going into the 2026 midterms with US troops engaged in conflicts on multiple continents, residents of US cities in regular skirmishes with ICE and the Border Patrol, and millions of Americans unable to afford health insurance.

You can’t have it both ways. If “the kinetic operations underway do not rise to the level of ‘hostilities,’” and therefore are outside of Congress’s purview, then you’ve undermined the claim that it’s an “armed conflict” that was used to justify the strikes.
