Trump's popular vote plurality was catastrophic for the United States and also the future prospects of the Republican party
Cosmically funny that, the American public has had less than a year of uncut republican governance, and they’ve decided that they absolutely hate this shit, spit it out

I’ll admit this is depressing to me, that the GOP is trying to bring back the 50’s but in their heart of hearts Schumer and Jeffries and their ilk just want to bring back the 90’s. There’s no party infrastructure (plenty of individuals) actively forward-looking.
full offense i do not know why hillary clinton is even talking

America is a country that will test UBI hundreds of times, get the same radically positive results each time, and still look at it askance, but will also put untested robotaxis on the road because a billionaire threw a shit fit.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

Today, the president said some of the most racist, vile shit I’ve ever heard said out loud about our Somali neighbors, friends, and family members. And it’s not just words—he also launched new attacks on our community because we’ve dared to try to build an inclusive, multiracial society.

feel like there should be some kind of licensing board to enforcing standards here?

America does not have capital punishment for selling or smuggling drugs and none of these people were arrested or tried. There could have been mountains of cocaine in open view on the deck of the boats and it still would have been murder of unarmed civilians.
Rand Paul just posted this letter from the Coast Guard confirming that 1/4 of the boats they stop carry no contraband. The likelihood that Hegseth & Bradley ordered the murder of innocent civilians is very high.

truly feels like every day we are waiting for someone in the press room to point out that the emperor has no clothes

someone will, someday, and the tide will turn, and these people’s children and grandchildren will be deeply ashamed of them; but they aren’t there yet, and it’s maddening
He can't stay awake. Or walk. Or speak. I'm so sick of the GOP denial. The embarrassing flattery parades. The complicit press standing silent while he drones on incomprehensibly or insults colleagues who dare to question his lies. Or laughing obligatorily at his non-jokes. I'm just so tired of it.

not to keep ragescreaming about Hillary Clinton but can you imagine if she and Biden had just gracefully retired after the Obama administration? they were popular then! they would have gone out on top! and then they just lit it all on fire. honestly the desire to be president feels like a red flag

I’ve been thinking a lot about the old saw that we get more conservative as we age and wondering whether what that really means is not so much that you go backward, but that you refuse to evolve as the world moves forward without you. Hillary is who she always was, but we have WILDLY outgrown her
God, same. I was a white, progressive, democratic person who identified as a woman when she was big in the era of Our Next Hope for exactly my demographic. But good God has it not aged well. She is the worst. Part of it is my evolution and her lack of evolving.

Newsmax turning on Trump feels like a bellwether moment

I think there’s a lot more internal pressure behind the scenes on the administration from even their usual allies to give Hegseth the boot before he brings the whole house of cards down

but they won’t because they’re all stubborn assholes so
Woah. Newsmax’s legal analyst just said Pete Hegseth and everyone involved in the illegal boat strike should be “prosecuted for a war crime.”

They’ve even lost Newsmax on this one.

Two things are going to be true here:

1) The gerrymandering in Tennessee is truly heinous and I don't know how that gets broken

2) The second-worst thing that could have happened to the GOP
NBC News projects: Matt Van Epps (R) wins TN-7 special election.

Trump won the district by 22 points in 2024.

Now with 90% of the vote in, Van Epps is winning by 4.1%.

gonna be very, very funny if the Dems overperform in 2026 so hard that the GOP loses even some of the districts they just gerrymandered to steal. not all of them have bulletproof margins!

as a grantwriter, the lack of unrestricted funding is a MASSIVE burden on nonprofits. everyone wants to fund a new shiny pilot program that makes them look like innovators. they don’t want to help make your tried and tested programs that have served the community for 50 years more sustainable
The headline I feel like is that all the philanthropic donations from billionaires typically have a shitload of restrictions.

Mackenzie is like “you’re doing work to stop something horrible or to help something good? Cool. Here’s a few hundred million.” and the paper is like “wow… so novel”
Mackenzie Scott’s signature philanthropic style is giving unrestricted gifts—a rarity in the industry. trib.al/DjrurgM

This one has multiple answers:
-the gerrymandering and voter suppression in Tennessee is absolutely asininely wild
-the margin of victory here has decreased dramatically compared to last year which is still good upon building the base there
-the GOP GC is absolutely crashing out re:the above
