Name a film made between 2000 and 2010.

Iron Man (2008). The movie that started the MCU, that got the whole world excited about the comics I loved, and surprised the heck out of a lot of people who thought they had no reason to care about Tony Stark.

Space Opera, by Catherynne Valente.
It's a Love/Skate Relationship, by Carli Corson.

Given a third, I'd add The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang. I think the combination of the three would leave any reporter wondering where the heck my taste in books was. 😁
alright let’s get something more pleasant going. what two books would you leave out on your coffee table so a reporter can mention you have them. doesn’t matter if you’ve read them. for me it’s Pale Fire (which I did read) and Ulysses (got like 15% of the way in)

Art is about human expression.

PERIOD
I see a lot of folks attack AI generated work on the grounds of quality - and true, right now the quality just isn't there in most cases.

But even if it were perfect I still wouldn't want it in any media I engage with.

I care about artists more than art.

Open AI loses copyright case in Germany.

Judge Elke Schwager summarized the case saying that if you want to build something and need components, "then you purchase them and do not use the property of others."
Blow for OpenAI in Germany as court rules song lyrics used illegally
A German court ruled on Tuesday that OpenAI violated copyright on nine popular songs in a lawsuit that marked another attempt to prevent the free use of artists' content online. The Munich Regional Co...

hey remember how that one big tech ceo was on a panel in like 2021/22 where someone asked him about how remote work gave a lot more power to the workers and he chuckled and said “yeah well a little recession will take care of that”

I think about that often.
Just fucking insane to see the absolute (intentional) collapse of full remote jobs available for AAA studios in so short a time. Why would I EVER move for a job again when I could be laid off weeks after moving my entire life across the globe??

The BBC, quite consciously, sets out to demean and belittle trans people. This is both morally contemptible and in breach of its Charter obligations. We've made it super easy for you to write to the BBC and tell it to stop.

My internet is down for upgrades, so I’m being forced to live like it’s 1995. 😝 Good thing I’ve got the day off work, errands to run, baking to do, a new bookshelf to build, and a romance novel I started yesterday that’s really good so far. Today should be an interesting day.

Predictable but still amazing to watch people who spent literally years accusing every librarian, teacher, and trans person they could find of sexually grooming children suddenly throw themselves in with "actually it's ephebophilia"
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."
