Something we don't talk about enough is that Hillary Clinton, in addition to being evil, is stupid.
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

PATTON OSWALT: These people are scared. They're being targeted. We're watching them be targeted right now. We're watching transgender people be targeted in a very aggressive way, so—

BILL MAHER: We are? Where?

OSWALT: Oh my god.

MAHER: Where are they being targeted?

once again it is not fucking normal to lower flags in oregon for random member of the opposing political party who was born in illinois, lived in arizona, and died in utah. this is not a normal thing they're extending to a white supremacist, it's a special thing they're doing for a white supremacist
Oregon governor Tina Kotek, a gay woman, is ordering flags to be flown at half-staff to honor a podcaster who said gay people should be stoned to death.

I use the click-to-cancel FTC rule all the time to explain why the war on the admin state matters. The whole "shadowy deep state bureaucrats!!!!!" characterization really loses momentum once you flesh out what the shadowy deep state bureaucrats do
I feel like there's a comms opportunity here about the role of government that I doubt anyone will seize on 🤷🏽‍♂️ it's small, but this feels like an obvious rule that would have been popular and messaging on it would add to the narrative about unchecked corporations/profit vs. people

the big questions for american democracy going forward seem to be (1) can the GOP actually build the federal police state they just funded, (2) in time to finish before democratic checks can be established, and (3) whether dems gaining power would actually try to stop/dismantle it

Zohran Mamdani's efforts to get into college at age 18 are matters of public interest that transcend their illegal sourcing; Roger Stone's efforts to overthrow the country last year may have been interesting but the public had to be shielded from the tainted material.
For reference the New York Times was among the outlets that declined to publish hacked materials from the 2024 Trump campaign www.cnn.com/2024/08/13/m...

honestly this is a masterwork of a statement. like the *degree* to which it throws Cuomo under the bus by implying that they were all just paying protection money because YOU KNOW HOW THAT GUY IS RIGHT? DON'T WE ALL HATE HIM OVER HERE ON THE WINNING SIDE I WAS TOTALLY ALWAYS ON?
Honestly, this made me laugh out loud (maybe it was more of a horrified cynical rattle). Points for honesty!

This is why traditional political power hoarders hate RCV — it encourages coalitions, doesn’t hate voters, and makes divide and conquer & demonization less effective/attractive. Scorched earth is actually a terrible planet to live on.
Feels like ranked choice was absolutely decisive in this race—not because of the vote count, but because of how it changed the incentives from zero-sum to cooperapetitive. It allowed a fractured left field to align organically through co-endorsements instead of falling into a circular firing squad.

There’s just so much: the victory of a new political talent, the loss of an old tyrant, the possibilities of alliance & positive strategizing, the hope for a more just future, the cracking of the last generation’s stranglehold on power. Also the joy and force of Tish James! Listen to her voice!
James: His critics said that he should wait his turn. His critics said that he did not have the experience. His critics said they did not have the right name. Well, now all of them know his god damn name.

Honestly jealous of how Republicans treat their younger members. Some 25 year old wants to run for King of Racism and they're all "go get 'em tiger!" but if anyone under 78 wants to get elected to democratic office they walk outside and see Nancy Pelosi keying their car
