There are around 1,500 rivers in Britain, so the government’s manifesto pledge to create a mere 9 river walks is simply pathetic.

Give the public a right of responsible access to all rivers & the wider countryside.

Pedersen surely banking huge support internally at the Club by this, and his general approach to the debacle. Just pray he gets the resources to show what he can do soon, and has the patience to ride it all out.

Are Private Eye jokes now... criminal?

PALESTINE Solidarity campaigner Jon Farley was arrested during a silent march in Leeds last weekend. What egregious act had prompted the police to act? He was, er, carrying a Private Eye joke piece as a placard!

Fascinating BBC story about Reform MP Sarah Pochin saying a local street is blighted by immigrations living in shared accommodation, only for locals to suggest this is bollocks. Political lesson: take on church wardens and sensible pensioners at your peril.

Had some more clarity on what happens to #SWFC if/when they breach the 30-day rule, and - I think - it could be seen as *good* news…

It’s not classed as an embargo, that’s for unpaid wages etc. What Wednesday will get is a ‘transfer fee ban’. More here: www.thestar.co.uk/sport/footba...

Hillsborough really needs investment, but must be careful what we wish for. New stadiums are rarely built to benefit fans. They can burden clubs with huge debt, suck cash out of cities that back them while pricing ordinary fans out, to line wealthy owners pockets

The stadium myth: new grounds won’t rescue your club – or your city
From the Premier League to MLS and the NFL, huge stadiums with gargantuan costs are a symptom of elite sport’s unrealistic promises

We made David Blunkett laugh out loud by telling him he was the most liberal Home Sec ever - at least on drugs. He's the only one ever to downgrade the classification of a drug. Cannabis from B to C. Reversed by Alan Johnson of course, despite use actually falling.
I mean Roy Jenkins was from *a* right of the party but arguably not the dominant right of the time (social liberal European social democrat versus authoritarian social conservative mates with the union bosses, George Brown territory)
