If you read this as Bari speaking only for herself, replacing the "we/us/they" with "me/I/myself" then it makes perfect sense.
Bari Weiss just sent this Christmas Eve email to the CBS News staff about "building trust," which includes her tripling down on spiking the CECOT piece "to make sure it's comprehensive and fair."

One CBS staffer tells me: "She really has no idea how insulting she comes across."

If you think unlocking creativity is a question of scale you are not qualified to speak on the subject.
I have grown to believe that excessive wealth does something to your brain that is analogous to a serious head injury

I guarantee you Cinnabon has on boarding and annual training around protected classes and code of conduct and it 100% says you will be disciplines for verbally harassing customers. What are we doing here?
i also believe in building a better world for workers. i also believe that all people are entitled to respect and dignity and that there ought to be social sanction for those who openly degrade others. you call me a “n*gger” to my face and i am not going to smile and shake your hand.

So poetic the answer made possible by the hardware from the world's most valuable company is totally wrong based on the technology that made said company the most valuable.
wait. that's not right. 259 shares of Nvidia is not worth $9.4 million today. Off by several orders of magnitude! It's worth like $45,000 (not including reinvesting dividends but that can't come close to bridging the gap) God, AI sucks ass

This is a very odd way to show your side is the “virtuous” one who “represents goodness.”

“Ah you see, we are forces for love and goodness. Now allow me to berate, demean, and dehumanize anyone who disagrees with me”
“What do YOU HAVE? You have NOTHING, you are nothing. You are wickedness, you are jealousy, you are hatred, YOU ARE NOTHING. You can build nothing, produce nothing, create nothing."

If your plan is to paint the Democrats as America's Hamas then you need way better cards than what this admin has. They drew pocket twos and are pushing their chips in the middle before the flop has even come.
Vance: "While our side of the aisle certainly has its crazies, it is a statistical fact that most of the lunatics in American politics today are proud members of the far-Left."

The reason affluent media people are such suckers for “civility” is that the actual content of most politics has no real stakes for them personally. If you want to find these people’s true political feelings, mess with their money.

This is so insightful and also BLEAK. People over 30 who aren't already marinating in internet sludge all day do not understand the perpetual motion machine of meme <=> IRL actions <=> escalating memes <=> escalating actions.

We already did this bullshit with Alan Colmes 25 years ago and look what good it did. It legitimized Hannity as the preeminent right wing kingmaker and Colmes was eventually demoted to part-time pundit while Fox grew into a Borg of racism and hate.
These people are so unaware of being personally influenced by constantly immersing themselves in a firehose blast of Nazi propaganda that she doesn't even list that as one of the considerations www.theargumentmag.com/p/we-have-to...

I think much like how kids decided to become punk rockers or greasers because it alienated their parents' generations, we need to reckon with how being Fascist in college serves the same purpose. Affectations that inform an ideology.
Where on earth are they getting these guys?

I was just in London for 9 days and it sounds pretty great if NYC quadrupled its park space and bike lane/path capacity.

Robots to free up time to do…all things they are trying to make us wholly dependent on AI to do for us.
Once you get past the initial "Wow! A robot!", I'm not sure what a personal robot would do for me? There's not really any physical task that I would want it to do for longer than like fifteen minutes.
MUSK, in Riyadh:

"My prediction, actually, for humanoid robots is that ultimately they will be tens of billions. I think everyone will want to have their personal robot. You can think of it like, as though you had your own personal C-3POor R2-D2. But
even better.

We live in the golden (dystopian) era of audience capture
humans are not designed for the amount of feedback being a public figure on social media provides. Whether it's praise or criticism, receiving an avalanche of nonstop attention is profoundly corrosive to your brain.

Without any social programs for universal health care, paid family leave, and child care any incentivizes you throw at juicing birth rates are de facto incentives to remove women from the workforce.
I think it was here on bluesky where I learned that the "decline" in birthrates is mostly (by a LARGE margin) due to teenagers not having as many kids.

Puts a completely different spin on the issue and the proposed "solutions"
The Trump administration is assessing ways to persuade women in the U.S. to have more children, as a movement grows on the right to reverse declining birthrates and push conservative family values. Some pitched ideas include cash baby bonuses and menstrual cycle classes. nyti.ms/4jh3UAR
