Kia ora! I've joined at last.

I was reluctant. Bluesky is built and governed in a way that runs counter to the spirit of the open web.

But an extraordinary number of people have gathered here because they care. I want to be part of that.

Let's strive for a truly open web. Together.

We're opening! I would love to see some friends there tonight.

This is the most technically ambitious production I've ever been in, and the most demanding on me personally. It's looking and sounding amazing and I can't wait to share it with our first audience.

I've grown my first ever moustache for this so you have to buy tickets. It's a privilege and a pleasure to be playing Dr Watson in this wonderfully creepy production under the directorship of Ross Gumbley. #Ōtautahi #Christchurch #theatre www.repertory.nz/show/the-hou...

New: Google has chosen a side in Trump's mass deportation campaign. Google is hosting a CBP facial recognition app to hunt immigrants; no indication Google will remove. At same time Google takes down apps for reporting ICE sightings

The only thing that billionaires have ever personally created is innovative ways to profit off of violations of the social contract which have been enabled by the explosion of democratized technology and to which our legal and social systems have yet to adequately adapt to.

Fuck 'em.

I've had over a decade of people telling me EVs are too big and too expensive

Suddenly when we have a cheap and small one it's not big enough lol
Who would have thought that the announcement of the BYD Atto 1 selling for under $30k NZD would anger so many people on Facebook? It's crazy. Me and the other moderator have removed so many seething comments from people who feel threatened by this smöl car. 🤷

TLDR lol no.

Years of consensus building up in smoke within 24 months. The next strategy for the climate movement should be rapid deployment to make it harder to burn it all up.
When I wrote this just two-ish months ago, the premise was that the architecture of the CCRA (zero carbon act) remained, but the policies that sustained it had been hollowed out.

With the CCRA changes today, I feel like that no longer holds

How Jacinda Ardern’s ‘groundbreaking’ climate law has become ‘a shell’
The Zero Carbon Act promised to lock climate ambition into law. But with key policies repealed, delayed or watered down, the once 'world-leading' legislation has become a husk of its former self.
