Heads up for folx playing Arc Raiders: Embark has openly stated (in an interview with GamesRadar+), that the game uses the same AI voice tech as The Finals, and the CEO has talked about using AI to generate 3D models from YouTube rips.

If you're anti-AI you should not be playing Arc Raiders!
Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

"This use of GenAI is fine because VAs signed contracts to relinquish their rights".

Well yeah, have you seen what happens to those who don't want to sign off on this? Can you really call that consent when the alternative is losing (or never getting) a job?

Briefing only one party leadership on a decision to put American forces in harms way is a massive violation of norms. I mean, yeah, "norms", but still a break worth noting
it will get papered over, but trump briefing johnson and thune but not schumer or jefferies is another example of congress having essentially given up on any pretense of oversight — this would not be in any way acceptable to republicans if the situation were reversed.

The fact that he calls it an epidemic tells you right from the off this isn't rooted in evidence. He also doesn't recognize that there could be causes that aren't environmental.

He's giving away his predetermined conclusion.

What some people aren’t factoring into their analysis is the reality that companies were buying tons of inventory to beat the tariffs.
That’s cash taken from being able to invest or hire. In fact the probably cut costs and jobs as a result.

if you think the Meta announcements are bad (they are), wait until you see what the struggling television, film & games industry does in the wake of neo-fascism

it will all be creatively bankrupt, it will all eventually backfire & explode in their faces, but we are in for quite a few years of it

Imagine watching disaster movies like The Day After Tomorrow or 2012 and thinking that the apocalyptic weather scenes were the “unrealistic” part.

Turns out those scenes were almost bang on.

The unrealistic part was the humans working together to overcome the problem & save the world. Sigh.
