SeattleU’s criminal justice program had an incestuous relationship with SPD.

It provides:
-Annual survey/MCPP/Before the Badge (Helfgott)
-Most of the data/analytics staff
-The current OPA director
-RTCC staff
-Several officers
This "public safety survey" is not an objective process whatsoever. The woman who operates the survey is paid by the Seattle PD to do it (Seattle Times omits this), is a media surrogate identified by SPD and is actively quoted as desiring to boost legitimacy and trust in police.

12 arrests. $1,600 recovered. And if it was anything like the "organized retail theft" operation I wrote about two weeks ago, 10 or more cops dedicated to a daylong sting at a time when Seattle says it needs more cops to respond to and solve serious crimes.

ICYMI: I took a deep-dive look at Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell's proposed budget, which adds $53 million in new election-year spending. This week, the city council is piling their own, even bigger list of proposed new spending onto a budget that is already massively out of balance starting in 2027.

Harrell's budget relies on fiscal tricks, general-fund backfills, and big deficits to fund increases in cops, graffiti teams, and shelter beds.
