ICYMI: Supposed local environmental groups are using probably AI-generated content like this to fight Seattle increasing dense and affordable housing. Their logo for Orca Nexus also looks AI-generated.
The fight over the alleged impact of building more housing in Seattle on Southern Resident Killer Whales is still chugging along, with a big push this week to get the city to stop fighting an appeal at the state court of appeals.

But the Comp Plan is passed - the appeal IS moot!

Maybe this sign could be more useful if it showed the bus routes at this bay and their ETA. Instead, it shows the ETA of the light rail train you just exited as you are leaving the station.

For me, a "reasonably-sized electric vehicle" is an ebike. I will keep my internal combustion car going until it reaches end of life and hope that I can skip electric car ownership altogether.
Here’s the blunt reality — reasonably-sized electric vehicles need to be the future of cars, but cars can’t be the future of urban mobility.

Fewer cars.
Less driving.
More inviting mobility choices.
Better communities and cities.

These are the 4 pillars of the REAL urban transportation solution.

This is what it looks like when big business buys a politician and their influence.
There was also a funny moment earlier where former state Sen. Joe Nguyen opposed the Well WA Fund as Commerce Dept. head, and Rep. Scott pointed out Nguyen had sponsored a bill 6 years ago in #WALeg to create a progressive payroll tax just like this one, and asked him what had changed.

Seattle is sorely lacking a traffic circulation plan which would significantly improve the lives of everyone both in and out of a car. I hope to see @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social direct SDOT to begin studying and creating one during her review as mayor.
Here‘s how traffic currently flows so that drivers can avoid the stoplights on the arterial route and save 1-2 minutes on their commute. The result is this neighborhood being a cut-thru route to go from SR 99/Aurora Ave to I5. One of these major cut thru routes is a stay healthy street.

@seattledot.bsky.social The new pedestrian refuge at N 107th and Meridian Ave N is a much welcomed safety upgrade but now we see drivers drive into incoming traffic and make dangerous U turns in the middle of the road. What further steps can be taken to meet the goal of safety for this intersection?

Spotify literally pays artists in exposure.
In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

Read it again: 88% of songs on Spotify have been demonetized.

Bob Kettle suggests Seattle exclude some of the most vulnerable users of the road from it's vision zero goal.
Seattle Councilmember Bob Kettle said the city needs to consider "individuals who, because of their addiction or mental or behavioral health situation, are just randomly going into the streets, randomly ignoring signals" when looking at its Vision Zero numbers. 🤔
