I’ll admit, I was slow to appreciate Bernie Sanders leadership but it is crystal clear to me now. He has done more to defend and advance core values that should guide US politics than almost any other politician of this century. And now @aoc.bsky.social has joined him in that role. Is Mamdani next?

Reviewing old notes today, I recall that the false fascist appropriation of "antisemitism" as a rallying cry has precedent in 2011 US rightwing celebs--Beck, O'Reilly, Geller--apologetics for Christian nationalist mass murderer Anders Breivik by dismissing his victims as antisemites. (They weren't.)

really cannot be emphasized enough that bari weiss has literally never done journalism. i don’t mean that in the pejorative sense. i mean that in the “has never performed the job she was hired to do” sense
One explanation for Bari killing the story is that she did so as a public act of fealty to the administration. But another is that, as an inexperienced journalist, she doesn’t understand that a refusal to go on the record is a kind of comment in and of itself

Folks, you can’t have Christian Nationalism without the antisemitism. It’s a central tenet of the ideology. The fact some of these Jewish Heritage folks are just realizing this is wild to me.

The endgame here is getting the Supreme Court to declare that the entire civil service system is unconstitutional. Which is to say, this administration does not want us to be a modern, efficient, globally competitive nation-state.

the "public as a thermostat" model is not just that there's a backlash to the party in power when they move policy too far from the median voter—it's also that the backlash is proportional to the amount policy is moved. last night's election results fit in that model, and suggest a swing in 2026 too

What's happening in TX-18 is more obscene than not seating Grijalva during pro formas. Turner died in March. Abbott delayed the special election until yesterday, and now it goes to a runoff early *next year.*

Congress can and should require special elections to be held within 90 days of a vacancy.

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Read that back.

When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

There is no strict Constitutional amendment against having sex with minors, being blackmailed about it, murdering the person who is blackmailing you, and then altering the videotape of the murder. So it's hard to see why some on the left are so upset with Trump right now.
