20 years ago we had debate (not very sensible or calm or dispassionate) & they lost, because their arguments were always baseless bigotry, & trans people got legal rights.

10 years ago they were still screaming abuse at trans women in TV "debates", which is why they got no-platformed.

...OMG didn't realize at first (due to paywall) that this was about the recent deMayo study that showed that trans kids' gender identities were just as stable as cis kids'! (& that shifts were largely to nonbinary IDs). here's the study: doi.org/10.1111/mono...

Just for clarity: Wes Streeting is an bald-faced quisling, whose rights as a cis gay man wouldn't exist without the struggles and sacrifice of the trans and gender diverse people who came before him. If you believe him now I have a bridge to sell you.

In an "olive branch" Streeting defended everything he did to strip healthcare from young trans people as right and justified and said absolutely nothing about any way he'd move away from that targeted campaign to eradicate trans people.

Come ON @theguardian.com. This is atrocious.
"In an olive branch to the trans community, many of whom felt betrayed by Streeting’s early decision as health secretary to pause the use of puberty blockers, he said he knew “young trans people who are desperately worried not just by the toxicity of some of the debates, but about this community’s safety and wellbeing”. “I know there are questions in our community about my motivation on this issue and the decisions that I took within days of coming into office,” he said. “My motivation has only ever been to make sure that medicine given to children is safe and effective, and grounded in robust evidence. “More broadly, I’ve sought to acknowledge the tensions that have arisen between trans rights and the sex-based rights of women, so that as a country, we can find a way through that ensures equality, dignity, safety and inclusion for all,” he added."

So in the end, the EHRC’s intervention wasn’t informed by communities, evidence, or impact assessments. It was just their own “best understanding of the law”, which really means their own biased opinion. 3/

If you're a parent with kids at school in Edinburgh it's time to get in touch with your school admin and make clear you will not accept them bullying trans kids out of education.

This is cruel and discriminatory behaviour. Child cruelty.

Police Scotland to offer ‘half and half ’ trans strip searches The Daily Telegraph26 Jun 2025By Simon Johnson SCOTTISH POLITICAL EDITOR TRANS women with breasts and a penis can ask for a female police officer to search their top half and a male officer to search their bottom half, under new guidance issued in Scotland. The five-page document issued by Police Scotland said searches will usually be conducted by an officer of the same biological sex as the transgender person. The guidance, issued following a landmark Supreme Court ruling in April, means that police searches of trans women would usually be carried out by male officers. But it said that trans people could request that they are searched by an officer that matches their “lived gender” instead to ensure their dignity is “respected” and “to minimise distress”. If this happens, the guidance stated that “efforts will be made to ensure an appropriate officer conducts the search, where this is operationally viable to do so”. #TransAgendaClips
