Read my two letters to the #UK:
1. Protests: I call for a review of the legal framework and the reconsideration of provisions in the Crime & Policing Bill that could restrict freedom of assembly.
2. Trans people: I warn against exclusion&zero-sum approaches

This is what you get when a supposedly progressive government tries to placate the Right.

They aren’t satisfied, they just demand more and more until the policy/actions of the government and the darkest, previously hidden, wishes of the most hateful become indistinguishable.

Misdirection. Focus on the <1% of the population whilst the *richer* one-percents increase their hoards and strengthen.

20 years ago we had debate (not very sensible or calm or dispassionate) & they lost, because their arguments were always baseless bigotry, & trans people got legal rights.

10 years ago they were still screaming abuse at trans women in TV "debates", which is why they got no-platformed.

Can't wait to see the mental arithmetics used by Streeting et al to ignore another study in support of gender-affirming care 🙈
re: that Economist article that's making the rounds 🧵
...OMG didn't realize at first (due to paywall) that this was about the recent deMayo study that showed that trans kids' gender identities were just as stable as cis kids'! (& that shifts were largely to nonbinary IDs). here's the study: doi.org/10.1111/mono...

Just for clarity: Wes Streeting is an bald-faced quisling, whose rights as a cis gay man wouldn't exist without the struggles and sacrifice of the trans and gender diverse people who came before him. If you believe him now I have a bridge to sell you.
In an "olive branch" Streeting defended everything he did to strip healthcare from young trans people as right and justified and said absolutely nothing about any way he'd move away from that targeted campaign to eradicate trans people.

Come ON @theguardian.com. This is atrocious.

To have the gall to suggest the odious weasel isn't a *major* source of aforementioned safety/wellbeing concerns.

Time-after-time, these people get their soapbox and they prove every *damning* stereotype.
This, from The Londoner yesterday, also features people on the march who claim not to be racists. Though the things they say prove otherwise

So in the end, the EHRC’s intervention wasn’t informed by communities, evidence, or impact assessments. It was just their own “best understanding of the law”, which really means their own biased opinion. 3/

This is cruel and discriminatory behaviour. Child cruelty.

An important contribution to understanding why the Supreme Court judgment in FWS is wrong, and will not survive either proper consideration by a full (and fully informed) Supreme Court or the ECHR in Strasbourg.

The UK has lost its collective mind.

This is what happens when organisations try to pander to transphobic bigotry, comining up with unworkable compromises that are still dehumanising and demeaning because they absolutely refuse to listen to trans people.
