I wrote a longer response to this sentiment on my Tumblr when someone asked me what I thought of using AI to generate an outline or finish a scene or write a few paragraphs - I genuinely don’t understand not enjoying the PROCESS of writing and refining!
That’s the other thing that baffles me about AI and creative writing, actually.

The work IS the joy for me. I don’t want to be able to snap my fingers and have a completed “product.” I want to be transformed by the process. I’m an author but I do this because I enjoy the rigor of being a writer.
In terms of process, I enjoy writing but revising????? Oh, that’s my real kink. A second or third draft???? A fourth???? Making tweaks on my desktop AND my phone???? *moans* I’m a WHORE for revision.

The only thing less useful than a political action you think is useless is complaining on the internet about that action.

For fuck's sake, just do the thing you want to do! The people you're complaining about won't be convinced by your posts, but they might be convinced by your effective actions.

A momunmental achievement and wonderfully presented by the Story Lab.

Also gotta note the timing of its release - the same week as Tony Abbott's "history" of Australia book/doco.
The epic story of Australia and its first peoples — like you've never seen it
The story of Australia and its peoples is vast and deep. It's one you should know, but possibly one you've never been told. Well, not like this anyway.

Nothing could stop me from showing up today — not my skin flare ups, or anxiety, or the congestion of the public transit system today. Knew I needed to make it and use my voice to fight against ICE and Donald Trump with the rest of Chicago. It was an amazing turnout, estimated over 100,000 people.

for those of you not from Indiana, IU and Purdue have a historic long-lasting rivalry and this is absolutely going in the record books as a victory for the Boilermakers. I’m dying. well played AND well done.
Last week, the Indiana University administration asked their student newspaper not to print any news stories in the Homecoming edition. When the faculty advisor refused, IU fired him and ended paper printing. So students at the Purdue paper printed the IU edition and drove it down to Bloomington!
Purdue student journalists deliver special 'solidarity' newspaper to IU Bloomington campus
The special edition blasted across town features columns from IDS and Exponent editors, alongside QR codes to support both student papers.

My novelette, 'That Slow Nightfall', finally dropped!
It features a blind MC who undergoes a study to utilise the eyes of her hot new companion. She's not supposed to fraternize, but when she catches sight of a terrible crime, she's got way more than a broken contract to contend with.

thinking about the concept of “support” as it’s tossed around in leftish online circles and feeling a little bit like we’ve lost the plot because nobody will define what it means and different answers are contradictory and hypocritical, helping no one and confusing everyone. thread, 1/?

Down to his last penny, Jason “J.D.” Donovan makes a deal that saves his life but inadvertently puts his friends and family in danger.

Can he save them without sacrificing himself?

if we ever figure out what it is about M/F fanfic readers that makes them hungry and eager to buy new original M/F romance while queer fanfic readers have to get strapped into a high chair while authors go “here comes the airplane!” about their queer romances, we will legitimately fix publishing.

“overly ambitious alchemist who will drag her boyfriend along on every adventure even if it ends with him drinking soap or getting turned into a safety pin” x “jock with very little self preservation instinct who will fight anyone at any time if they say shit to his friends”. is this anything.

Between 0-1. I work full time and write in between my other responsibilities and hobbies; if I get 5-7k words in a week I’m very lucky.
Authors, in the interest of helping readers spot gen ai 'authored' books, how many novels do you publish a year?

I publish one 80-100k+ word (epic fantasy) novel, and I can only do that because I drafted 8 novels before I started publishing any. 📚💙
