Well, Runner Owen's Behold the Damned was supposed to be a short story collection but it miiiiight end up being a novella instead. We shall see how things develop from here.

I would like to recommend this terrific book. I don’t like westerns, but I loved this. Hippos instead of horses! Riverboat casinos! Non-binary host/esses! Danger, jeopardy and romance!

We know what's happening. We know what's going to happen. But we don't seem to know how to actually stop it.

It's easy to say you love the guillotine. Harder to build it.

Reminder that they're still trying to repeal section 230 (thereby making platform holders like bsky legally responsible for content posted by their users etc etc)

There is still a need for you to blow up your rep's phones on this if you enjoy being able to do things like "post" or "have an porn"

r/analytics • IOh We just found out our AI has been making up analytics data for 3 months and I'm gonna throw up. Support So we've been using an Al agent since November to answer leadership questions about metrics. It seemed amazing at first fast answers, detailed explanations, everyone loved it. I just found out it's been hallucinating numbers this entire time. Our VP of sales made territory decisions based on data that didn't exist. Our CFO showed the board a deck with fake insights. The Al was just inventing plausible sounding percentages. I only caught it by accident when someone asked me to double check something. I started digging, and holy shit, it's bad.

It's really simple for me: Trad-publishing offers almost no benefit by comparison to self-pub NOW. Unless you're already a marquee name, you don't get help. With anything. At all. So I self-pub so I 1) control my content, 2) own my content, 3) don't need to worry about arbitrary gatekeeping. (1/3)

Yes it’s Valentine’s Day. But it’s also the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass who was born in 1818 on a plantation in Talbot County, Maryland. He escaped from slavery & rose to become the most eloquent and forceful voice for the abolition of slavery & for Black voting rights in the U.S.
