Not that controversial of a take. But even a lot of the comments supportive of this POV are ignorant and detached. If the go-to for this is "yeah, there are school shooter drills" or such, you're hitting WAY off the mark. (Hint: Lotta kids grow up around deaths & violence *even in the rich West*.)
Your white adjacent / white kids can absolutely handle hearing about what is happening.
There are children their age going through it. Separated from their families.
They need to understand now, so they grow up knowing.
