All super rich guys sound the same now. It’s all “I sleep four hours a night and spend the other twenty hours a day developing a product that’s going to bring us the best widespread poverty anyone’s ever seen.”

the fact that nick fuentes isn’t here but ms rachel is illustrates perfectly that groups like this don’t actually care about antisemitism at all

I'm extremely proud to announce that I've been elected to the board of the Pastfinders of South Lake County Genealogical Society! I can't wait to get more involved with this great group of researchers and family historians.

Yearbooks were a little bit different when my grandpa was in high school. This was from Johnson High School in St. Paul, MN in 1939.

It was great! It’s probably 70% of a Radiator Springs Racer now.
Just went on Test Track 3.0, and it was quite fantastic. I don't remember 2.0 particularly well, but some of those scenes are phenomenal. I don't want to give out spoilers, but the final scene before there big outdoor track is one of the coolest reveals.

I keep seeing people talking about how genetic ancestry tests can "prove" someone is 12% [whatever ancestry] this week and I am re-upping this thread as a reminder that "race" is socially constructed and those tests are measuring the statistics of the social construct (read up for full thread)
In a lot of cases, they are strong statistical guesses with a lot of data behind them! In other cases they're just vibes. Treat the ancestry and kinship suggestions from these services like a starting point, not absolute truth.

The weird thing about Florida is that 20 feet behind me was a stage and park packed full of people. 30 feet in front of me there was an alligator.

Yearbooks used to be weird. These are from Johnson High, a school in St. Paul, MN from 1929. I’m looking for my great-uncle, but I think he graduated in 1930 and this one only has the seniors listed.

This is an really interesting case that was finally able to use advanced #DNA techniques to get a resolution for a family 52 years later.

The bit with the doctor also makes me realize that you really should talk to everyone about your #familyhistory, you never know who you are going to meet.

I scanned four huge photos from my grandpa's work Christmas parties from the 1950s. If you had relatives who worked at the Union Tank Car Company in #Chicago, maybe you'll be able to find them in these photos!

among the losses are genealogy databases, test-prep databases, a variety of scholarly databases from Gale, and--of particular local significance--the archive of Boston Globe articles.

60% of usage is from schools. there were 9 million full-text downloads last year, a 12% increase.

this is sick. 📚
From a fellow department head's weekly update:

"Next Tuesday, July 1, we’ll be losing all of the databases provided by the state. Funding for the Institute of Museum & Library Services was cut by the Trump administration and the Mass Library Association is no longer receiving federal grants. (1/2)
