This spring, new AI photo tools arrived. Genealogists experimented. Then quickly we realized: these tools don't "restore" historical photos—they may fabricate new faces.
By August, these "restorations" were everywhere, unlabeled, corrupting our shared historical record. #genealogy

I’m a US citizen and a veteran. ICE arrested me for no reason.
Jailed for three days without an explanation or ability to notify anyone, George Retes argues the only path to healing starts with the government taking accountability for its actions.

Basic sourdough, 800 g pre-bake, 68% hydration, 20% starter, 2.5% salt. First rise yesterday, overnight cold ferment, then second rise and shaping today. Happy with the shape, color, patterning, crumb and aeration.

I shouldn't have to lie to your phone tree and say I need translation assistance just to wait 35+ minutes to talk to a human. I'm literally never going to want customer service from a computerized voice. Part of "serving" a customer is actually being there for them, as a human. #nowgetoffmylawn
