We're none of them paying attention to the many TV eps across many series addressing this very question? A computer program trained to mimic human responses based on the patterns taken from vast quantities of human interactions is still just a computer program. Not a sentient living intelligence.

This is a point that needs repeating. It’s fiscally conservative to house the homeless, it’s also the right thing to do.
Anderson Cooper: So it's more expensive to have a chronically homeless person living on the streets than it is to actually subsidize an apartment for them?

Answer: Yes, we’re paying more as taxpayers to walk past that person on the street and do nothing… #HousingFirst

It's been about 2 weeks since I stopped taking the super B complex after finally noticing the weakness/beyond tired spell I get after taking it. (I'd known it happened in the afternoon, but not that this was the cause.)

If you've heard about RFK Jr's "wellness farms," have I got a story for you.

I've worked on farms where most of the crew were put there as rehabilitation for various issues.

So I'd love to tell you all the various ways those farms made us all worse!

As always, wise words and excellent examples.
A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.

This reminds me of Cardinal John Henry Newman's book Definition of a Gentleman. I often cite Newman's book because it's so instructive. The term gentleman is so overwrought and frequently abused, but to the degree it means anything at all, I think Newman captures it here:

I had no idea this was something taught for trauma recovery. I found my way to it on my own. It started with the idea of a tower, like Rapunzel (long before Tangled), where no one could get to me without my allowing it. That meant safety. It was very much an active tool to deal with it all.
Safe space imagery is more involved than just "picture a safe space." If that's all it was, it'd be pretty weak sauce. What it actually involves is developing the recovery tool of sensory mental focus to the point we can literally change our brainwaves & nervous system "levers."

Every single time I see someone talking about kratom, my brain instantly thinks it's about carob - that chocolate substitute. I'm remembering what it isn't faster, now, but it has been very confusing.

I think maybe that's never going to change.

It doesn't stop.
Every tiny possible gain just starts the whole cycle over again.
Oh, this thing I was doing thinking it helped was actually making things worse? Let's see how much better I am now!
Nope, still broken in all the other ways.
Why was I so hopeful for a huge reversal?

This whole thing reminds me of how I worked out my critical theory frustrations by putting many theorists together in a room that ends up as that high conflict daytime confrontation talk show (I never watched it and forget the name, but it was basically a by word for such situations).

The maga base has spent more than a decade building trump up in their collective conscious to be something far more that even he can live up to. They have mythologized this man into something he’s just not. So when he steps out of line with that myth they lose their fucking minds.
Truth Social users are not happy with Trump on this one.

Some of the bad actors are staying to be identified and legally held responsible. This is in a thread regarding one of them.

It seems to me that ICE and the related agencies are attracting exactly the type of men who are already entitled to thinking this allows them free rein.
Donahue can be seen in a number of other videos from October questioning people about their citizenship and detaining them.

One person stopped by him and questioned in Albany Park told us, "you could just tell he thought he could do whatever he wanted."
At some point today amidst threatening rapid responders, detaining a citizen and abducting people, red beard here changed his clothes.

It's foolish of us to assume it was an accident. That may be fun for jokes, but it leaves us unprepared for malicious intentions (by our government) when these patterns are pushed further, as they always are.
Wisdom says look deeper and broader for what this was a precursor for.
What the hell: The US accidentally invaded Mexico on Monday, storming a beach and planting DoD “restricted area” signs claiming the land for “the commander,” and triggered a standoff with armed Mexican security forces, all because Trump’s government can’t even identify a border on a map. 🧵 1/
