I think Democrats should double down on trans rights now. It's obvious that most voters don't care about it so you might as well stick with your principles and goad Republicans into focusing on it at the expense of everything else so they're the ones who look like freaks.

I have long had an obscure, complex theory about Susan Collins that explains these things.

Susan Collins is terrible and anyone who ever suggested she is a moderate is a liar or a rube.

That's it. That's the whole thing.
In case anyone is wondering what kind of campaign Collins intends to run next year, now we know. No achievements, only hate:

Over 320,000 Black women have been pushed out of the workforce.

This is a red flag for our economy thanks to Trump’s mass firings & attacks on DEIA.

I convened Black women leaders to discuss how to fight back and save Black women, Black families, & Black futures.

What I honestly find depressing is all that money and energy against trans athletes when the coach accused of raping multiple people is just *there*

(I know why, easier to demonize the oppressed rather than challenge the patriarchy).
I’ve spent a lot of the last three years investigating the rise of anti-trans politics. Often, it came back to the controversy over trans women athletes.

So I teamed up with @pablo.show to look into the leading figure on the issue: Riley Gaines.

How right-wing superstar Riley Gaines built an anti-trans empire
The swimmer tied a trans woman for fifth. The MAGA industrial complex took care of the rest.

Today on Volts: for years, I've wanted to do a podcast on indoor air quality, and I finally found the perfect guest! Dr. Lagoudas & I discuss indoor air pollutants, the policies and technologies that can control them, and the growing need to frame indoor air quality as a basic human right.
What's the deal with indoor air quality?
From CO2 monitors to better building codes, Dr. Georgia Lagoudas outlines how to clean up the spaces where we spend 90% of our lives.

Period.

This is an INTOLERABLE. UNPRECEDENTED. DANGEROUS. ATTACK. ON ALL OF US.

The greatest call in higher education history:

A professor who had also read the US white nationalist plans to do a little Asian hate, even if it bankrupts US universities, saw that Trump had selected Stephen Miller to run immigration.🤦🏿‍♂️

So he insured his university against "sudden revenue loss!"🤯

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

I'm tired of party unity only ever running one way.

In my old town the GOP had run basically without serious challenge for decades. A bunch of us "millennials" joined the local Dem party and basically asked to help.

We were running it in a year. Within 4 years we had a majority of town seats flipped Dem. A FAR more progressive Dem than old party
“Rather than taking over the Democratic Party the same way the right took over the Republican Party, we should take the easier route and just start up a new party ourselves!”

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Aspects of our political system which are currently failing and long overdue for reform:

- The two-party system
- The US Senate
- An all-powerful, stand-alone presidency
- A politicized Supreme Court with full veto power over Congress and the executive
Take stock of everything that is failing us right now.

When the moment comes, don’t seek to restore + improve those institutions.

We should replace them.
