A reminder.

Presidents often get too much credit - and blame - for what happens in the economy.

This one really is all Trump

This is the depravity of this administration. This had nothing to do with drugs, gangs, or violence but everything to do with cruelty, malice, and incompetence.
Her husband is a US citizen and her 1 year old daughter was still breastfeeding. But she was put on a plane to Cuba with her daughter still in Tampa.

It's only a matter of time before this trampling of the 4th amendment by the Trump administration is going to run right into some citizen who is also WELL AWARE of their 2nd amendment rights and then the $#*% is really going to hit the fan.
The Justice Department quietly invoked the Alien Enemies Act last month, granting Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents the power to conduct warrantless searches of people’s homes based solely on suspicion that they are “alien enemies.”

So many remarkable exchanges in the Time transcript. A less remarked upon bit is that Trump appears to learn information that has been driving markets *from the interviewer*. time.com/7280114/dona...

Really getting a crash course on the constitution these days, but this just in: THE FOURTH ammendment STILL EXISTS.
OUTRAGEOUS. The Trump administration says it can point a finger at anyone they say is "Tren de Aragua" and then toss aside the Fourth Amendment!

There is no "Alien Enemies Act" exception to the right against unreasonable searches and seizures our ancestors fought and died for!
The Justice Dept. has authorized law enforcement officers to GO INTO PEOPLE'S HOMES WITHOUT SEARCH WARRANTS if they suspect that someone is an "alien enemy"

I talked to @usatoday.com about Attorney General Bondi's "Guidance for Implementing the Alien Enemies Act," links below

Some of you didn't grow up reading pioneer accounts of dying or being permanently disabled from now preventable diseases and wow, does it show.
I'm thankful for the work these researchers are doing. As for me and my house, we hope never to hear the word diphtheria outside of a Little House book.

My family has benefitted from the EITC several times and I do not begrudge it to anyone, nor do I hate the idea of a "baby bonus" or whatever. Great! Let's help families! It's hard out here.

What I DO hate is the sheer hypocrisy of those on the MAGA Right.
The $5000 “baby bonus” is functionally very similar to the Earned Income Tax Credit except it doesn’t have the work requirement the GOP has insisted on for decades.

Hot take here, but the President tweeting out "we cannot give everyone a trial" should by itself be impeachable.

Have read so many law briefs, opinions, rulings, etc. lately that I'm starting to wonder if I should pursue a law degree once I get my children raised.

(No, I will not actually be going back to school for a law degree. But I sure admire logical, insightful writing!)

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

If Trump's strategy is to flood the zone, then we have to walk and chew gum at the same time. That is: we talk about all of it, as often as we can, as loudly as we can, and for as long as we can. This goes for tariffs, due process, prison camps, DOGE, SignalGate, National Parks, and ALL OF IT.
I see people arguing about “should we talk about people being disappeared to foreign labor camps, or about the effort to destroy the world’s economy bringing severe hardship to millions”, and may I humbly observe that we can talk about more than one thing

More of this, everyone. Do not comply in advance. Use whatever voice and resources you have. Take pictures. Get loud. Action will look different depending on the situation but be inspired by these stories and be ready.
I can't emphasize enough that the most important thing journalists can do right now is publish exactly this kind of article

As many of you know the Declaration of Independence contains a list of charges laid against King George by the colonists. What is old is new again. Do any of these sound familiar:
He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

The stages in a Donald Trump deal:
1. Lie about something being a problem
2. Do something to "fix" it, which causes an actual problem
3. Say you won't reverse what you've done
4. Reverse what you've done
5. Say "Art of the deal"

It is hard to express, without resorting to expletives, how utterly stupid it is to suggest that the United States, world's richest economy with a population of 334 million, should have a bilateral trade balance of zero (no trade surplus, no trade deficit) with every country in the world.
I want to note again how completely insane you have to be for your goal to be a “bilateral trade balance of zero” with every country. Just nutso.

Call your congress members now. They must exercise their authority.
Trump just opened up a procedural avenue for Dems to force votes on the tariffs he announced yesterday. A quick explainer-
April 3, 2025 at 4:54 PM
This. It's exhausting.
The tariffs are catastrophic. But so too are the abuses of power, so is the corruption, so are the police state tactics, so is the destruction of our health care infrastructure, so are the ways our national security is being endangered, so are the attacks on our core freedoms.

What opened my eyes about abortion law in the US (even as I remain pro-life)? Stories like this one. I WAS this woman, except Roe hadn't been overturned & my doctor didn't have to worry about being prosecuted for doing what was necessary before I went septic.

We can do better than this.
I spoke to a South Carolina woman today who is miscarrying - her fetus has no heartbeat - but the state's ban is preventing doctors from taking action.

She has to walk around with a dead fetus for another week so she can get a FOURTH ultrasound.

This is what bans do.
