I think I'm going to use November and December to lay the creative groundwork to hit the ground running in 2026. The motto of my home city of Bristol is "Virtue et Industria," which I choose to interpret as "Do good and work hard," and that's going to be my motto for the New Year.

So many opinions on writing, publishing and bookselling appear to be based on vibes and conspiracy theories. I’ve been a trad published author for 20 yrs, but I also work for an indie press AND an indie bookshop. I’ve seen publishing from all sides and I’ll always give you the facts not the bullshit
