As an adult with almost grown children, I recently rediscovered theater and, getting involved, have met some of the most caring, supportive people I've ever known!
This place needs some Innocuous Discourse pronto. Quote this with a take that’s not political or aggressive

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

My kid is trans. I'm so angry I'm starting to cry about it. Of course the defectors were from Texas and N. Carolina, but still. This is INFURIATING! How DARE YOU put my child in danger!
Three D's defected to vote for this disgusting bill. If they hadn't, it wouldn't have moved forward.

*Don't come into my mentions to "explain" to me that "this will fail in the Senate." Spend that time calling your reps, donating to causes, and doing literally anything for trans folks.
The House passed legislation today that would charge doctors with a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison for providing transition-related care to minors.

Rep. Sarah McBride strongly condemned the legislation in rare personal remarks ahead of the vote.

Not being a professional writer, I wasn't entirely sure what a triplet was, so I looked it up. Hey! I enjoy using those when I do write!
The thing that’s so frustrating about the idea that em dash and triplet use are signs of AI writing is that AI uses them badly, but being able to tell the difference requires writing and writing skills, the exact thing that AI has led companies to eliminate.
Don’t even get me started on triplets, you will have to kill me to take those from me

ICE can go right out and get themselves fucked. Well and truly.
My constituent, Wilmer, was mauled by an ICE attack dog despite the fact that, as he has consistently explained, he was not resisting arrest or trying to flee—his wife and young children, all U.S. citizens, were forced to watch helplessly as Wilmer was violently attacked and dragged away.

So "tough guy" Pete Hegseth takes orders from civilians now? Gee, that's pretty sad to hear about the "SSecretary of War" (please read all available sarcasm into that comment)
Serious or not, we can’t allow exchanges like this to feel normal. Nor should we become numb to it. Don’t let small men like Hegseth and Kolvet convince you otherwise.

Fuck this noise. Does this idiot have any idea how much gas costs?!
Sean Duffy on slashing fuel economy standards: "This rule will actually allow you to bring back the 1970s station wagon. Maybe a little wood paneling on the side. We can bring back choice to consumers."

I won't be giving them a dime. I've known for a while there was something screwy with them.
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

Born in the early 70's, so core gen Xer here. Honestly, I'm disappointed as fuck in my generation. Too many side with boomers for some idiotic fucking reason, considering how we got treated. In my 20s, lots of talk about how we might be the first generation to do worse than our parents.
only good thing about the current multi-generational hellscape is that gen X will never hold real power thank GODDD

For some reason, my brain first read this as "high resolution crimes."
Two miles of ice core on the shelf at our national ice core facility in Lakewood, Colorado. The WAIS Divide core from West Antarctica is a 3400m long (deepest US core, 2nd deepest ice core ever) 68,000 year old record of high resolution climate.

Yeah, after a season of the new guy, I dropped the show, too. I'm a blacksmith. People ask me if I do it so I can be on that show. My answer is always, "No, I don't hate myself that much."
We used to watch Forged in Fire as a family. I have 4 boys who love swords, but I enjoyed it too. Until Wil Willis left the show. We don't like the new guy.

You can really tell an old person wrote this because they think quotation marks is a way to show emphasis instead of sarcasm. ("BIG" MONEY!)

"Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something...That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo...and it's worth fighting for."
Never forget this: The forces rigging our economy, undermining our democracy, polluting our planet, and stoking hatred are counting on you to give up. Cynicism is how they win. Stay clear-eyed and ready for the fight ahead.

I felt that feeling once before on January 21, 2021. One of the best days ever.

TBH, I think even 5 minutes is generous. I quite seriously think 30 seconds would be a stretch for his goldfish attention span. I'm sorry, that's an insult to goldfish.
The President wouldn't last five minutes as an air traffic controller, and after everything they've been through - and the way this administration has treated them from Day One - he has no business shitting on them now.
