I know this is supposed to be about deer but last Christmas we were 3 miles into a 500-mile drive when the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and the car just...stopped...because a squirrel had chewed through the transmission wiring harness. Again.
I was cycling once and got clotheslined by a fucking turkey, wiped out on a gravel road, I still have scars where my sister had to pick gravel out of my leg with tweezers
My ex step-cousin was riding his bike to school in Utah, and a deer bolted out of a bush and leveled him. Pancaked. Istg

There are so many hyperlocal AI slop journalism sites popping up in news deserts and there are few, if any, local media reporters helping people make sense of them.

ACTION ALERT 🚨 Rep. Sam Graves, Chairman of the T&I Committee drafting the next transportation bill, recently shared an alarming insight: “It's gonna be a traditional highway bill... We’re not gonna be spending money on murals and train stations or bike paths or walking paths.”

Sunday warm & fuzzy:
The tween's #soccer team is brand new, and struggles to get 11 kids to show up to every game. They've scored zero goals ever.

Yesterday we showed up with 9, expecting to get walloped, as per usual.

Instead, the other team not only played with 9 girls as well...

Both Gen X parents out-sprinted the tween in a footrace today so we are definitely full sigma now

It's been 4 months *to the day* since Tropical Storm #Chantal damaged a key non-car transportation corridor in #ChapelHillNC.
Yesterday, temporary repairs on #BolinCreekTrail were finished and it's open for business!!! WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Next request: anyone seen good domain-specific research on AI and workforce development and/or education? Specifically, whether employers actually expect or want "AI literacy", and in what ways? I keep hearing that "employers expect" phrase, but without citation. Is it an AI bubble talking point?

We’ve had free* buses for quite some time and welcome other cities who might be on that path. It’s really great

*Yes we know our tax dollars and UNC subsidize them. We’re happy with that because free buses.

Telling how the replies are mostly "here's how to get AI do search current events" and not "even AI knows the demolition of the white house is an unprecedented and unfathomable affront to the nation"
I use Claude (an AI) to scan my posts for spelling and grammar errors. On the most recent post (about the East Wing, link below), I got a really amazing addendum.
