The irony is that it only seems to happen to cars that don't get driven regularly.

They showed our kids how to have fun while doing something hard. How to extend kindness while competing against each other. How to lend a hand when you have more than you need. How to be silly while being accountable.

It was inspiring and heart warming. Kids are amazing.

...but they also loaned our kid's team 2 of their best, with instructions to make sure our players got a chance to score. And they did so with unbridled enthusiam and joy.

And sure, the home team beat our kid's team handily, but nobody minded. What mattered was the example they set:

It's ok to grateful for the town's efforts while also furious about the regulatory, political, and financial barriers to providing and maintaining infrastructure for anything but driving.

While I recognize the challenges the town had to work through in order to get this connection back open, it's hard not to compare the timelines: less than a week for roads for cars, > 4 months for the 1st of multiple car-free routes to reopen...

A fast ride down the eastern 2/3 of the #BolinCreekTrail. This was my first time out on the trail since July 6th (when #Chantal hit). I used it several times a week before the storm, so am thrilled to see it open again.
