it's important to remember the people doing this aren't "just following orders," they signed up to do this, they're excited to do it, it's what they want to be doing, and each one of them is personally culpable for the entirety of ICE's conduct

Again, not a puritanical abolitionist, and all drugs should at least be decriminalized, but instant gambling on your phone is so obviously a harm accelerator. If when I was doing coke for years I could instantly get it every single time I thought “hm I could use some cocaine” I would be dead.
Also, and this is neither here nor there, and I am in favor of both being legal, but gambling legally, and smoking weed legally for that matter, has kind of shaved a good percentage of the edge off of it for me. Vices should make you feel a little thrill that's why they're vices.
