London, ON civil servant and parent. Trying to make the world better for my kids and my kids better for the world. Also Star Trek. She/her
I went to an indoor concert for the first time in year tonight (Yay!) I had a mask in my pocket, fully intending to wear it, but I walked through the door and kind of chickened out. BUT THEN I saw a lady in an awesome tie die shirt and purple mask and put mine (also purple) on too.

Decided to treat myself to a fancy coffee today, and yet again I ordered a sweetened latte that sounded good, then immediately regretted it and had to cut it with black coffee at home to make it drinkable. Are other people's taste buds really up for this?

I've just been reading through the list of Silver Cross Mothers. I'd forgotten how 2024's lost not one but two sons to PTSD and suicide.

I signed on to this letter because I refuse to accept the framing of "AI" as inevitable or even urgent. Generative "AI" in particular is slop tech for a fascist era and this rushed "consultation" period is just part of the overall griftosphere that constitutes modern tech.

My grandmother, still living in her own home and driving, is one year younger than Anne Frank. So much life stolen
another strange thing is to consider how long people *could* have lived. Anne Frank was three years younger than Queen Elizabeth II!

Pauline Johnson was one of Canada's most beloved poets.
Her poems focused on her duel English-Mohawk heritage, which were reflected in her stage shows.
Celebrated for her work, she remains an important literary figure in our history.
This is her story.

‘The anti-vax movement isn’t simply a grassroots network of concerned parents. It’s an industry. … It operates on a simple premise: if you’re not vaccinating your kids, you need to protect them somehow, and here’s a bunch of things you can buy to do that.’

I spent years spouting conspiracy theories about vaccines. Now, as measles rages in my home of Alberta, I’m trying to convince vax-hesitant parents to inoculate their kids.

Back To School PSA
It's that time of year again, welcome back to school kiddos! This week we're going to address Toronto's back to school/micro mobility campaign & ask that they direct all available resources at dangerous drivers who cause hundreds of serious injuries & deaths each year in TO. 📷 @tomflood.bsky.social

Horrible news. The plant-based ham is a staple in school lunch boxes for us, and the ground round, burgers, and dogs for dinners

Did anyone think you could negotiate in good faith with a gangster?
Trump has never wavered from using economic threat to break our nation. Prime Minister Mark Carney must immediately reimpose the digital services tax and respond dollar for dollar.
Elbows down doesn't work with a gangster.

Things that DO make traffic worse:

- TOO MANY CARS
- SUBURBAN SPRAWL
- CAR DEPENDENCY (even for short trips)
- Bigger vehicles
- On-street parking
- ride-hailing

Things that DON’T make traffic worse (actually mitigate congestion):

Bike lanes
Bus lanes
Decongestion pricing
