I was a physicist, once. Ms./Miss. I try to be kind, despite overflowing with snark. From Utah, but currently in Juleptown.

I done 199 mortifying things in my life, but appearing in an Epstein email ain’t one of ‘em.

Two things can be true:
1. That tranche of documents must contain a lot of ugly stuff, some of which taints Trump significantly.
2. If Access Hollywood and the E. Jean Carroll verdict and Stormy Daniels weren’t presidency-ending injuries, all of the Epstein ugliness won’t do it either.

It is so shamefully dangerous to be a teenage girl in this country. It is so shamefully dangerous to be a child, period. I'm not sure there could be a vaster gulf between the right's worshipful posture towards the capital-C Child and their brutish disregard for actual, living children.

The Speaker of the House shut the chamber down for two months to block the release of the Epstein Files and the president is huddled in the Situation Room of the White House to formulate a plan to keep them from being released, and I don't know why you crazy libs think there's some kind of cover up.

Just realized that if someone asks me on my deathbed what my biggest regrets are, I won’t be able to say a couple because I wouldn’t want family to hear me say those things.

Just saw that the new season of Deadloch has a drop date: March 20. I am delighted to know it’s coming back, but am also very bad at waiting for things.

Bastard Out of Carolina, Dorothy Allison. Hard to pin down how it changed me, but it did. Certainly shook me up—like, a seismic event. It was like it leveled me up in my openness to hearing other people’s experiences, better recognizing certain kinds of pain in others? And …
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

I was reminded by a phone conversation today that when I’m in in my emotions I am absolutely un-strategic and yammery. It would be overly polite to say that “I wear my heart on my sleeve,” but the basic idea is right.

Very chilling sign of the times for @sarahkendzior.bsky.social

I'm thinking today of all my fellow veterans but especially the more than 5,000 trans service members and their families who were kicked out of the military this year despite being highly qualified and serving honorably. This injustice will be a stain on our nation's history.

Spent some time this Armistice Day morning reminding myself of the story of the Bonus Army.

Remember 25 years ago when a photo was taken of a fed pointing a gun at a crying refugee child and the image was so shameful it dominated the news cycle for a year

“Some people who don’t like the way things are now want to go forward, even though we don’t know exactly what ‘forward’ is going to look like. But some people want to go backward, to where they think they know exactly what it will look like, even though they’re wrong.”

so even charlie brown is less of a mark than shaheen and co.

There’s a joint in town that makes a grilled cheese with apricot preserves and thin sliced Granny Smiths inside. It’s amazing. (Except the last time I tried to order one in, it was just the bread and cheese. 😢)

My brain is attuned in such a way that everything bad is probably worse than it appears and anything good is probably not as good as presented.

Unpopular opinion: Neither the lyrics nor the melody of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald are all that interesting. The event itself was a tragedy and deserves to be solemnly remembered, but the song—apart from Lightfoot’s performance—is just mid.

Just remembered the line from Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy describing Peter Guillam as having “network of girlfriends who were not, as the jargon has it, inter-conscious.”

Am I re-watching Andor? Yes, yes I am. Again. Already.
I have a real bad talent-crush on Elizabeth Dulau.

So, SCOTUS declined to do a thing that would have been both stupid and a Very Bad Sign. I’m going to calibrate my enthusiasm.

The Charlie Brown Kick the Ball Caucus:
Dick Durbin: 312-353-4952

Angus King: (207)945-8000

Jacky Rosen: 202-224-6244

Catherine Cortez Masto: 202-224-3542

Maggie Hassan: 202-224-3324

Jeanne Shaheen: (603) 750-3004

John Fetterman: 202-224-4254

Tim Kaine: 202-224-4024
The absolute foolishness of this. My lord.

For years and years, I thought Gordon Lightfoot and Stan Rogers were the same person. (More exactly, I thought The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and Northwest Passage were sung by the same guy.)
