I hope it eats at him every day

i am going to put a finer point on this: executive orders are not laws. and they certainly are not royal decrees. they are interpretations of existing law for the purposes of enforcement. the fact that so many people are treating them as laws is actually driving me a bit insane.
i mean, the president's executive order isn't a goddamn law! as far as this doctor is concerned, who cares what the president says!
A New York City doctor said he will continue providing gender-affirming treatments to his patients younger than 19 despite President Donald Trump’s executive order aiming to ban such care.

the enraging thing is that the democratic governor's association called schumer *this fucking morning* and told him to get his caucus to slow these nominations down and stop confirming everyone, these calls aren't just coming from the base or from us, the state level pols are seeing the problem, too
appreciate that wyden and merkley continue to be nays on everything, but they can't do it alone
By a vote of 79-18, the #Senate confirmed the nomination of Douglas Burgum to be Secretary of the Interior.

Reporters: Please stop calling things DEI that are not DEI. This is only cementing the propaganda being used to legitimize the dismantling of all types of initiatives that are not DEI as well as legitimize efforts to end civil rights enforcement. Be specific with your language. Be accurate.

It's not "politicizing a tragedy" to point out the top levels of the federal government aren't functional—the three key leaders here are drunk rapist TV show host at DoD, reality TV star at DoT, and nobody at FAA—and they're doing squat except spreading the same dysfunction down the ladder.
REPORTER: Is there an acting FAA director?

DUFFY: *walks away*

(The FAA director resigned on the day of Trump's inauguration under pressure from Elon Musk)

it is very telling of these guys’ conception of how power works that they see issuing a flurry of executive orders as evidence of presidential strength and vigor and not a sign that the president is too weak to pursue a serious legislative agenda

I do think Trump is rapidly careening towards having completely blown apart all of his political capital and support by attempting to do every insane thing he's ever thought of at once before he even manages to have a cabinet in place.
