It's political malpractice to keep saying "we all just need to come together" and "elect us because we're the adults and everything will be fine" when we are *so far* past the point of normal that people are going to be pissed once Dems get control and things get *worse*. Which they absolutely will.

The far right took over the GOP through the long process of taking over local and county organizations and the left can do the same. It’s not an instant fix but it actually works.

The most relevant historical analogy is Senate Dems giving up their filibuster of Alito and other Bush nominees in exchange for a vague and unenforceable promise that Republicans wouldn't abuse the filibuster, a promise that needless to say they never even pretended to honor when they lost in 2026
This is key. The vote the Dems secured here is a fake nominal vote. Everyone knows this.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.
Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

The agreement to hold a vote on ACA subsidies is not a concession. It's worth literally nothing. It should be ignored when evaluating the merits of the deal
Sanders: That is a totally meaningless gesture. You can get 100 votes here and it won't mean anything because the House is not going to take it up.

Every single Democratic senator that votes to cave on this should be immediately ejected from the party, and the national party should immediately start running primary candidates in their districts.

The weirdest thing about these articles is that they all understand that voters want likable politicians with a compelling vision who deliver meaningful benefits. That's not really the case for centrism though!

This proposal would be even worse than the no deal on extending ACA subsidies bill being floated earlier: Democrats and Republicans have been locked for more than a month in a standoff over healthcare...
