There are three Natural Laws according to Hobbes: the first one is to seek peace in order to survive, the second is that you must abandon your right to thinking that you have the right to everything, and lastly, you must not break any promises or covenants you make with other members of society.

Disturbing
Whether he's lighting up the night sky with fake stars, polluting Memphis & the atmosphere, or torching our modest programs to improve global health & feed the starving, Musk does not pay a nickel for the impacts of his fever dreams: everyone else does.

This is not how a healthy society functions.

I had no idea that the phrase “Back to the old drawing board” comes from this Peter Arno cartoon from March 1st 1941’s New Yorker. It’s rather splendid to be able to date the birth of what would become part of everyday speech with such precision.

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

This is super freaking cool if it proves true
⚠️ Chinese researchers have invented bone glue that mimics how oysters stick to surfaces underwater.

The adhesive can reportedly repair orthopedic fractures in 2-3 minutes, even in blood-rich environments, and is bioabsorbable.

I feel that it’s unacceptable for government to force binding arbitration on Flight Attendants mere hours into a legal strike. It degrades workers rights.

I’ve been rewatching the entirety of King of the Hill in anticipation of the new season. This is a beautiful article:
Incredibly, despite having written about television for 30 years, I have never written an entire piece about King of the Hill. I rectified that here. Special emphasis is given to the Dallas connections. www.dmagazine.com/arts-enterta...

With Bobby running a restaurant in Dallas and dating an SMU coed, the most Dallas show ever gets even more Dallas on August 4.

1. The Fed is projecting GDP growth of 1.4% this year
2. Nearly every time growth has slowed to this rate, the economy stalls, and a recession follows

Election day in a country that has had a fair and free vote for generations.

Where all the opposition parties are free to take power.

Where virtually everyone will accept the election result.

After my last year, it’s a history and a privilege I’m more grateful for than ever.

Let’s get at it.

Asking once again for every Canadian who sees this and hasn't voted yet to please go out and vote.

This 51st state stuff isn't just a joke and there's one party in this election who courts the Maple MAGAs and they can't be allowed anywhere near the levers of power.

Vote for your country today.
