I made this one time, called it the Dreamland Quilt, then hung it between two trees in an outdoor gallery. It’s birch bark pieces with night-dreamt dreams typed on paper and applied to the opposite side.
Repost with a photo of yours that would make a good album cover.

Hey, artists, in case you were wondering if your work matters: I'm a scientist working on climate change and biodiversity, and I would not be who I am today without The Lorax, The Secret of NIMH, Watership Down, The Last Unicorn, and The X-Files. I know I'm not alone. Thank you for all you do.

Listen, things are fucked, but that doesn’t mean your accomplishments don’t matter. Wrote a book? Got accepted to a program? Recorded a song? One year sober? Whatever it is, share it. Maybe your joy will bring someone else a bit of joy, and we all need that.

Holding space for possibility requires continually and consistently choosing to believe and to imagine.

It’s an active state, ESPECIALLY in the face of disempowering factors and ESPECIALLY if you’re part of marginalized communities.

In fact, it’s a lot like active hope married to imagination
I can't agree with this enough.

The first step is often to IMAGINE the change you want to talke place. Imagine what could be, imagine it happening, imagine what it would feel, sound, taste, look like.

Let it feel real to you. Then take action.
If you want to change the world you must first believe that the world is changeable.

And you have to understand that your belief does actually play a role in creating reality. That's how politics works.

🧵 1/3 Hi. Advertising background here. Since we all care about this Canadian origin of products all of sudden here's a very short thread about how to parse labels and stickers. Certain labels mean very specific things with regards to origin and the Competition Bureau is fussy about it.
Grocery stores in Canada are starting quickly identifying Canadian products. #BuyCanada #cdnpoli #peipoli

Make them use the words.
If someone says they’re against DEI, forget the acronym.

Make them use the words.

Ask why they’re against diversity.
Ask why they’re against equity.
Ask why they’re against inclusion.

Sometimes when I talk to folks here I feel like people think “organizing” is a great charismatic leader rising from the left and telling everyone what to do and then creating a mass march in the streets that is a cathartic outpouring of emotion (but accomplishes nothing).

No.

From Winterson’s intro: “Walking and thinking are sympathetic activities – the brain lives in a cage made of bone and gets a kick from being outside.” Even (especially) in winter.

Winter is my favourite.

Hi Kevin! What a beauty
I have a big ask. My 9yo son is autistic and he’s been raising a betta fish he named Kevin. Yesterday He asked if he could “share a photo of Kevin with the whole world“. I don’t know if this will work, but a dad’s gotta try. Like and share if that’s your thing. Kevin says hi! 🐟👋
