My autistic son no longer needs in-class support, is thriving in school and is doing well socially. This is because of the support and saint-like people who provided it in elementary school. You want autistic kids to be part of society? Give them the support they need.

great rundown on the hidden role that fire departments play in anti-density pro-car design. i think it speaks also to my own bugbear about "defer to the professionals." professions are often both insular and narrow-minded, unwilling to weigh costs and concerns beyond their internal cultural foci

Lol, Zillow tried to rate the climate risks facing individual properties. The real estate industry *hated* it, precisely because it worked -- it made selling risky properties more difficult. So they rebelled & Zillow caved.

Playing around with have an algorithm auto-sort smaller neighbourhoods into different levels rurality/urbanity based on the city's cost-to-service categories.
