“I thought the days of beating up people because they were gay were well behind us”

Hardwar (1998)

An Elite-like flight sim set in craters on Titan, in a partially collapsed colony society after mining corporations pulled out and abandoned the moon. The mix of trade, bounty hunting, and piracy you'd expect but with solar-powered VTOL aircraft and aesthetics by the Wipeout artists.

is there a german word for the feeling you get when you realise the thing people have been shitposting about is just the actual reality you're forced to live in
I teased this last night in What I’m Hearing but now confirmed: Paramount WILL release Rush Hour 4 after prodding from Trump on behalf of Brett Ratner. Distribution deal. Producer Tarak Ben Ammar is lining up financing. Get ready for the dumbest possible state-controlled media.

Well done to all those who have tirelessly campaigned to scrap the 2-child benefit cap.

Today, the government admitted it had been keeping thousands of children in poverty for no reason whatsoever.

Next, tax wealth, reverse austerity and end the privatisation rip-off!

*Keeping* the whip should be a career-ending embarrassment for any Labour politician under this cruel, rightwing, authoritarian Labour government.
This Labour government should have scrapped the two-child benefit cap on day one.

Instead, it chose to keep hundreds of thousands of children in avoidable, grinding poverty for a year-and-a-half.

I’m proud to have lost the Labour whip and left the party that has overseen this performative cruelty.

Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy 3.

The Nice Guys 2.

Dredd 2.

Access to a time machine and a briefcase full of cash to get Kurosawa and Mifune to make as many Yojimbo sequels as there are Zatoichi movies.

I don't care these are all sequels, I'm a despot and I want my little guys back on screen.
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

me: not sure how I feel about BG3, maybe D&D/Forgotten Realms just isn't the vibe anymore.

also me: oh hey I just used Shove to kill a tough opponent by launching them off a cliff. GOTY.

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

when I said "I could do it, and probably get away with it" I might have been overestimating the "get away with it" part. but clearly anyone could just do it.

cool/depressing mini-thread on how the alt right operates on complete and easily debunked fiction, all the time
My latest piece has a short section that offers a great example of how online reactionaries take off running with wildly inaccurate theories and conspiracies, no matter how small.

Not long after Ghost of Yotei was announced, the GG crowd sensed a new online obsession and began dogpiling on it.

old, busted: "just following orders"
new, still pathetic: "we've tried not to have to do it"

they didn't try very hard then. everyone at DHS belongs at a Nuremberg-style trial with a French Revolution-style sentence.

Rogue Trader continues to be one of my favourite surprises of the last few years: an absolutely standout CRPG invoking the heyday of Infinity Engine games, and a truly compelling take on Warhammer 40K that digs into so many interesting corners of the setting.
Lord Captains, it's almost 2 years since you started your voyage across the Koronus Expanse to secure the future of your dynasty. Your team of techpriests at Owlcat has been with you all this time, and we humbly ask you to nominate the game for the Labor of Love at Steam Awards 2025!

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.
